Review
Before I formally introduce our
lesson for today may I know if
you still remember our lesson Yes, Ma’am
yesterday?
(Student will raise their
What is our topic last meeting? hand)

Circle
Yes, (Name of the student).

Thank you (Name of the student).

Okay! If you still remember our

topic about Circle. I have posted
here a figure of circle and all you
have to do is to label the parts of
the circle. (Student will raise their
hand)

-(I will call 5 students and label

the circle) (5 students will label the
circle)

-(I will check the parts of the

circle)

Very good class. I’m glad that you

still remember the parts of a circle.

Motivation
Now let’s proceed to our topic for
this afternoon but before that, I
will group you into 3.

The first row will be the Math

Talino Team, the 2nd row will be
the Math Galing Team and the
third row will be the Math Tibay
Team.

Now, let’s have a game called the

Jumbled Letter Game.

Here’s the mechanics I will show

you jumbled letter word, if you
know the answer kindly raise your
hands and say your group name
and add KAMI for example, the
first row will say “Math Talino
KAMI” and they will say their
answer. If they answer it correctly
they will have group points and
the group that has the highest
point will receive a price after the
class”

( I will show the jumbled letter

word)
(Student will raise their
REAA hand)
TORSSEC AREA
CLECIR SECTORS
CIRCLE
Thank you for your participation
in our game and the price of the
winning group will be given after
the class.

B. Establishing purpose Now, based on the activity I have

for the lesson posted what do you think is our
lesson for today?
(Student will raise their hand
and say their group name
and answer)
(Name of the student)
Area of the sector of a
circle.
Alright, you’re correct our topic
for today is all about Area of the
sector of a circle.

And our learning objectives are;

a. Define the sector of a

circle
b. Solve for area of a sector
c. Appreciate the use of
distance formula in solving
real-life problems.

C. Presenting Let’s start with our first objective

examples/instances of which is define the sector of a
the new lesson circle.

First what comes in your mind

when you heard the word sector?
(Student will raise their
hand)
(Name of the student)
(Student will give their
opinion about the sector)
Ok, thank you! Any other answer?
(Student will raise their
hand)
(Name of the student)
(Student will give their
opinion about the sector)
I’m glad that all your answer are
correct

Now, look at the picture of this

pizza

A slice of pizza can also be

referred to as a sector of a circle
Now the definition of sector of a
circle is

(Name of the student) will you

read what is of the sector of a
circle.

(Student will stand up and

read the meaning of sector
of a circle)

Sector of a circle is the

region bounded by an arc of
a circle and the side of the
central angle.
Thank you!

Look at this pizza always

remember three things in the
sector of a circle.

(I will point out the part that I am

discussing)

First, it is enclosed by two radii

and an arc.

Second, sector of a circle has two

regions, namely major and minor
sectors.

Third, the minor sector is the

smallest and the largest part is the
major sector.
D. Discussing new For us to be enlightened I have
concept and practicing here the first example.
new skills #1
Example #1:
The radius of O is 10cm. If m
AO= 60° what is the area of sector
AOB?

Our first step is to find the ratio of

a measure of the arc over 360.

Why it is over 360?

(Student will raise their
(Name of the student) hand)

Because it is the whole

measurement of a circle

Nice one!

So, the measure of the arc is 60

over 360 is equal to?
(Student will raise their
hand)
(Name of the student).
1/6

That’s Great!

Second step is to find the area of a

circle A= πr 2

Since the radius is given so our

A= π (10)2 or π (10 cm)(10 cm)

10 raise to two is?

(Student will raise their
(Name of the student) hand)

100

Good! Now what is the area of a

circle? Ma’am A=100 πcm2

Great Job!

Third is to get the product of the

ratio measure of the arc over 360
and the Area of a circle.

Area of sector AOB =

measure of the arc
x πr 2
360
1
Area of sector AOB = (100
6
2
π ¿ cm¿

100 π 2
Area of sector AOB = cm
6

100 π
Simplify into 2 so it
6
50 π
becomes .
3
50 π 2
Ma’am it’s cm
Now our area of sector AOB is 3
what? Yes (Student’s name).

Very Good!

E. Discussing new Let’s try another example.

concept and practicing
new skills #2
Example #2

A boy eats a 130° slice of a 20”

pizza. Find the area of the slice?

So we need to figure it out the area

of this slice using this equation
(The 130° and the 20”)

Look at this whole pizza

If I slice into many pieces and the

boy eat a slice of a pizza, our
radius is 20” and angle is 130°

Our first step in getting again?

Ma’am find the ratio of a
measure of the arc over 360

130 13
- =
360 36

Great! The second step is?

Ma’am find the area of a
circle A= πr 2

A= π (20)2 or

π (20 inches)(20 inches)

A=400 πin 2
That’s nice! How about the third
step?
Ma’am get the product of
ratio measure of the arc over
360 and the area of a circle

13
Area of the slice = (400
36
2
π ¿ cm¿

Area of the slice

5200 π 2
= ¿
36

Simplify by 4

Area of the slice

1300 π 2
= ¿
Very Good class! 9

F. Developing mastery Now prepare ½ crosswise and do

(Leads to Formative this seatwork.
Assessment 3)
1. Find the area of the sector
of a circle with a radius of
9 inches and the
measurement of the arc is
31
2. Find the area of the sector
of a circle with a radius of
12 cm and the
measurement of the arc is
80

(I will give my student a 5 minutes

to answer)

(In 5 minutes, I will monitor my

student)

After 5 minutes
For those who are finished kindly
raise your pen
(Student who are finish will
raise their pen)
Ok pens down.

Finish or not finish exchange

papers and let’s check your work.

Who can answer for numbers 1

and 2 on the board? (Student will raise their
hand)
(Name of the students)
(Student will write their
answer on the blackboard)

Thank you (Name of the student)

you can take your seat.

(I will check the answer of my

student)

Amazing class! Give yourself 10

claps. (Student will give
themselves 10 claps)

Kindly pass your paper. (Student will pass their

paper)
G. Finding practical Alright class, all of you did a good
application of concepts job and before we end our
and skills in daily living discussion I want to ask you how
can you apply this topic in your
life? (Student will raise their
hand)
-(Name of the student)
(Student will share their
answer)

Thank you (Name of the student)

(Through the thoughts of the
students I will connect it to the
learning objectives)

H. Making Now to sum up our discussion,

generalization and what is the sector of a circle?
abstraction about the (Student will raise their
lesson hand)
(Name of student)
(Student will define the
sector of a circle)
Thank you (Name of the student)”

What are the steps on how to solve

the area of a sector? (Student will raise their
hand)
(Name of student)
(Student will tell the steps
on how to solve the area of
sector)
Thank you (Name of the student).

Very Good! Do you have any

questions? (Student can ask a question)
I. Evaluating Learning Now it is clear, let us have a short
quiz.

1-5 What is “Sector of a Circle”?

6-10. A slice of Pizza has a radius

of 9 inches. It forms an angle 30
degrees at curve. Find the area of
slice.

(I will give her/his student 5

minutes to answer)

Are you finish? Kindly raise your

pen when you are done.

(Student will raise their pen)

Ok pens down.

Please pass your paper properly

and I will be the one who will
check it.
