Postcard 1 (from Sue)
I’m at the Santa Village in Rovaniemi, Finland, with my family. It’s a fabulous village. It looks like Santa
would live here! It’s a little cold and chilly, but the village looks wonderful with all the snow. I had to get up
early to take a train and a bus to get here, but I’m having a great time. I met Santa and took a picture with
him. I even rode a sleigh pulled by a reindeer. It was really nice. Tonight, we’re staying in a glass igloo. It
has a spectacular view of the night sky. I’ve taken so many amazing pictures! I'll show them to you when I
get back.

Guess where I’m writing from! The Vatican post office in Vatican
Vatican City! I’m staying with my old pal Shawn,
and he’s showing me around Vatican City. He’s been really kind and helpful, letting me stay with him and
taking me to so many interesting places. Yesterday, I visited the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel.

Yes, I love traveling and experiencing new things. I've been to several countries in Europe and Asia. When I
was in Germany, I visited the Oktoberfest. It was so much fun. I also really enjoyed Japan. One time, I
stayed at a temple and experienced the lifestyle of Buddhist monks.

Dear Andrea,
Jack and I are in Kyoto today! We took the train here yesterday from Tokyo. Last night we stayed in a
Buddhist temple. We had vegetarian meals with the monks, and we even participated in the morning prayer.
It was really cool. Tomorrow we’re planning to go to Osaka to see Osaka Castle. Then, we're going to climb
Mount Fuji. The only problem so far is that the weather has been really hot and humid. I hope it gets better.
