 When did the Gulf War start and end? Which countries were involved in
the Gulf War?
Ans= The Gulf War period was from August 2, 1990 and ended in February
28, 1991. The countries involved include: Iraq, Egypt, France, Syria, Kuwait,
Oman, USA, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Pakistan, Canada, United Kingdom,
Qatar, Bangladesh, UAE, Italy, Australia, Sweden, Netherlands, Niger, Spain,
Argentina, Belgium, Senegal, Bahrain, South Korea, Norway, Poland, Greece,
Honduras, Czechoslovakia, Philippines, Denmark, Afghanistan, Germany,
New Zealand, Turkey, Japan,

 What was UAE’s role in the war?


Ans= The UAE army contributed manpower to the various peacekeeping
missions that took place on behalf of different countries. The UAE was
technically forced into the war due to it’s involvement in the GCC and GCC
peninsula shield force. The UAE armed forces helped out countries in need of
help during the war as well as fight on their behalf maintaining their alliances
in the process.
 How did Sheikh Zayed respond in the war and why?
Ans= Sheikh Zayed tried to help out many countries financially, politically
and tactically. Sheikh Zayed was a contributing powerhouse to any countries
needing or seeking help from the UAE. Although it does not state who the
UAE was supporting, it was quite evident that the UAE was in support of
Kuwait both due to various actions they took for their behalf. I think Sheikh
Zayed did all this is in the war to create more international ties or alliances
strengthening the UAE’s political and national background.
 Who directed the program during the Gulf War?
Ans= The prime minister in charge and who directed at that time was Late
Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the president at that time Late
Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, with a little guidance from qualified
personnel of the UAE military. The UAE was sort of forced into the war
because of it’s existence in the GCC corporation force shield that brought
unity between the Arab World countries.
5. Why did UAE take part in the peace keeping force? Where did the UAE’s
peacekeeping force provide support and action?
Ans= The main reason the UAE took part in the peace keeping force is Sheikh
Zayed’s principles and strong beliefs on helping everyone and others in various
situations faced building mutual respect between many countries. As part of the
gulf war, the UAE forces provided support and action to Kuwait after Iraq’s
horrendous act of invasions and violence entering Kuwait. The UAE forces
helped liberate civilians and many people in danger during this war that was
about to take place.
6. How do we know about the philanthropic nature of the rulers of UAE? What
is the work of ADFD? Describe the role of UAE Red Crescent Society.
Ans= The rulers of UAE were quite humble and were always ready to help
various nations and people, their philanthropic activities to name a few include:
donations to Somalia during the cholera epidemic, Loans and emergency aids to
countries like Yemen, Egypt and Pakistan, building of schools and hospitals
around the world and various charities supporting certain movements around
the world.
ADFD- Abu Dhabi Fund for Development is a foreign aid agency they provide
concessionary loans to fund economic and social development projects. The
fund also invests in order to expand and strengthen the private sector
economies of its clients and needy countries. Describing their mission Mohamed
Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the fund wrote, "The UAE – through the Abu
Dhabi Fund for Development – is committed to engaging in development
projects that deliver tangible benefits to people’s everyday lives – eradicating
poverty, while promoting economic growth."
UAE Red Crescent Society- The Emirates Red Crescent Society is a volunteer
humanitarian organization that supports official authorities in times of peace
and war. Their main aim is to care for life in the UAE serving and helping various
purposes in order to make the UAE a happier country. Their main role is
establishing humanitarian care and proper conduct providing relief and care to
everyone.
