word of each given words.”

The teacher will call one student to ask the root

example.
Is unpainted.”

“Very good”

“Root word is the base word. It is where affixes are

added.
An affix is attached to the beginning or ending of
the base word that gives a different meaning to it.
Prefix and suffix are kinds of affixes.”
“The affixes we used in the word unpainted are
“What do you think is the affixes we used in the

word unpainted?”

“Very good!”

“Prefix is an affix which is placed before the base

word.
Suffix is an affix which is placed after the base
word.”

“So what do you think is the prefix in our first “un”

example?”

“Very good!”

“How about the suffix, what do you think is the “ed”

suffix in our first example?”

“Correct!”

Let us only focus on prefixes first, and then once

you mastered it we will then proceed with suffixes.

When affixes are added to a based word, a new

word with a new meaning is formed.

The teacher will use the 4 items left in the phrases

they read as an example to discuss the lesson
further.
