FINAL EXAM IN REV 202

Professor: Rev. Fr. Vivencio Besa, SThL

1. For you, what is the value of values education?

Answer: For me as a Religious and Values teacher, values education holds immense significance
in our lives as it shapes our beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors. Values education plays a vital role
in the holistic development of students, shaping their character and guiding their actions.
Instilling core values such as honesty, respect, empathy, and responsibility equips students with
essential life skills beyond academic knowledge. Values Education will also guide our
interactions with others and influences our decision-making process. Values education provides
us with a moral compass, enabling us to navigate through ethical challenges and make principled
choices. It promotes personal growth, fostering qualities like resilience, responsibility, and self-
discipline. Values education empowers students to become responsible citizens, actively
engaging in civic duties and contributing positively to society. It nurtures empathy, compassion,
and critical thinking, fostering personal growth and building a strong foundation for a purposeful
and fulfilling life. It instills a sense of purpose and meaning, helping us lead a purposeful life
aligned with our core values, and contributing to a more compassionate and just society.

2. How will you integrate Faith in God in a classroom setup?

Answer: As a religious and values education teacher I have a crucial role in integrating faith in
God within a classroom setup here are some concrete examples of how I can integrate faith in
God within a classroom setup: First, in Opening Prayer, I will begin my class with a moment of
reflection, prayer, or meditation, giving students the opportunity to connect with their faith and
set a positive tone for the day. Second, in Scripture Study, I will incorporate religious texts or
scriptures from various faith traditions into the curriculum. Analyze and discuss relevant
passages to explore the moral and ethical teachings they convey. Third, in Service Projects, I will
organize community service projects that align with the principles of compassion, kindness, and
charity taught in different faith traditions. This provides students with an opportunity to put their
faith into action. Fourth, in Reflective Journals I will encourage students to maintain reflective
journals where they can express their thoughts, questions, and experiences related to their faith
and spirituality. And lastly, in Field Trips, I will organize visits to religious places of worship,

such as churches, chapels, oratories, and benediction places to expose students to different faith
traditions and practices.

3. Faith and morals are necessary tools in the integral growth of a person. Explain further.
Answer: In our journey of personal growth and development, it is crucial to recognize the
significance of faith and morals as essential tools. Faith provides a framework that helps us make
sense of the world and understand our place in it. It instills in us a sense of purpose, hope, and
resilience, enabling us to overcome challenges and find meaning in life's ups and downs.
Morals, on the other hand, serve as guiding principles that shape your behavior and
interactions with others. It helps us differentiate between right and wrong, encouraging us to act
with integrity, kindness, and fairness. Embracing moral values cultivates virtues that contribute
to our overall character development, such as empathy, honesty, and respect.
By incorporating faith and morals into our lives, we establish a solid foundation for
personal growth. It provides us with a moral compass, helping us make informed decisions and
navigate the complexities of life. It empowers us to develop a strong sense of self, inner strength,
and self-discipline.
Moreover, faith and morals play a crucial role in building harmonious communities.
Shared values create a sense of unity, fostering empathy, understanding, and cooperation among
individuals. It contributes to a more compassionate and just society, where everyone's dignity
and rights are respected. Indeed, faith and morals are not restrictive; they empower us to become
better versions of ourselves and make a positive impact on the world. It provides us with the
tools to navigate challenges, build meaningful relationships, and contribute to a more
compassionate and just society.

4. Give your personal reflection on these:

a. “You will recognize them by their fruit.” Matthew 7:20

Answer: For me, the verse "You will recognize them by their fruit" from Matthew 7:20 is a
powerful reminder of the importance of discernment and observation in our interactions with
others. It highlights the significance of looking beyond mere words or appearances and focusing
on the actions and outcomes produced by individuals. It encourages us to evaluate people based
on the fruits of their character, deeds, and impact on the world. This verse teaches us to seek

authenticity, integrity, and goodness in others, rather than being swayed by empty promises or
superficial appearances. It reminds us to be mindful of our own actions, ensuring that our fruits
are positive and aligned with our beliefs. Ultimately, it emphasizes the need for discernment and
wise judgment in our relationships and interactions with others.

b. “Better to have little and be fair than to have much and be dishonest.” Proverbs 18:8
Answer: In my own understanding of this verse, Proverbs 18:8 offers a profound reflection on
the value of integrity and honesty in our lives. It reminds us that material abundance or wealth
should never come at the expense of our moral character. The verse encourages us to prioritize
righteousness over worldly possessions, emphasizing that it is better to possess little and
maintain our integrity than to possess great wealth but be marked by dishonesty and deceit.
This proverb challenges the common notion that material wealth alone equates to success
and happiness. It reminds us that true prosperity lies not in the accumulation of possessions, but
in living a life guided by principles of honesty, fairness, and justice. It underscores the
importance of building relationships based on trust and integrity, which are far more valuable
than any material riches.
In a world often driven by the pursuit of wealth and material gain, this proverb serves as a
timeless reminder to prioritize character and ethics over external measures of success. It
encourages us to cultivate a sense of contentment and gratitude for what we have and to make
ethical choices that align with our values. Ultimately, it teaches us that the true measure of our
worth lies not in our possessions, but in the quality of our character and the integrity of our
actions.

education and employment for young adults but with their life of faith, understood in the broad
sense of how they make meaning.

emphasizes the importance of engaging with diverse perspectives, questioning assumptions, and
integrating personal values into one's faith journey. By encouraging critical reflection and
challenging preconceived notions, her theory provides a framework for individuals to navigate
complex spiritual landscapes and develop a more understanding of their beliefs. Park's theory
also recognizes the influence of community and relationships in shaping faith, highlighting the
significance of supportive environments that foster growth and provide opportunities for
dialogue and exploration. Overall, her theory offers valuable insights into the dynamic nature of
faith and its ongoing development in the lives of individuals.
