I. OBJECTIVES:
Content Standards: The learner demonstrates understanding of lifestyle and weight management to
promote societal fitness
Performance Standards: The learner maintains an active lifestyle to influence the physical activity
participation of the community and society practices healthy eating habits that support an active
lifestyle
Learning Competencies/Objectives:
Assesses physical activities, exercises and eating habits This competency is already
embedded in other LCs.
Engages in moderate to vigorous physical activities for at least 60 minutes a day in and out
of school
Students will understand and analyze the cultural influences on street dance and hip-hop
styles.
Students will improve physical coordination and self-expression through active participation
in dance activities.
Students will appreciate the diversity within hip-hop culture by recognizing and categorizing
various dance styles.
Students will demonstrate the ability to apply basic street dance and hip-hop movements
independently.
II. CONTENT:
Discuss the historical and cultural origins of street dance and hip-hop.
Break down key street dance styles (B-boying, Popping, Locking, Krumping, Tutting,
Shuffling, Waacking).
Emphasize the unique characteristics and movements associated with each style.
IV. PROCEDURES:
Show a video clip featuring a local dance group performing street dance.
Engage students in the "4 Pics 1 Word" activity to reinforce dance style recognition.
Encourage collaborative learning by having students work in small groups to discuss and
identify dance styles based on images.
Foster peer-to-peer learning by organizing small group discussions on key street dance and
hip-hop styles.
Guide students through a detailed physical warm-up, incorporating partner stretches and
coordination exercises.
Break students into smaller groups to learn and practice basic street dance moves
independently.
Encourage learners to share their progress within the group, fostering peer feedback and
collaboration.
Teach basic hip-hop dance steps and provide opportunities for individual and group practice.
Distribute the 15-item post-assessment handout and assign watching a performance by the
Philippine All Star Group as homework, encouraging reflection and discussion in the next
class.
f. Generalize/Evaluate (5 minutes):
Summarize key points from the lesson, eliciting input from students to reinforce their
understanding.
Encourage learners to share their experiences and insights gained during the lesson.
g. Remediation/Enrichment (5 minutes):
Provide additional guidance to students who may need extra support in mastering dance
movements.
Facilitate a brief session for students to showcase their progress, allowing for peer-led
enrichment and collaboration.
V. REMARKS:
Note the level of learner engagement, collaboration, and active participation throughout the
lesson.
Highlight instances of effective peer interaction, critical thinking, and creative expression.
