attending to a patient is higher than your waist or lower than your waist. This can be prevented
by bringing the patient height to your waist level or if crisis higher than the waist level, a
stepstool can be used
b. Twisting of the body: This means not facing your work, you have to change position all the
time to pick what you need for a particular task. This can be corrected by facing our work.
Putting all you need together.
c. Over reaching: This occurred when you keep on stretching your body over the patient to get
your work done. This can be prevented when you have all you need to use before starting the
task.
d. Holding object far away from your body: It causes strain on the small muscle in the lower
arm. It can be prevented by holding the object close to our body when lifting, moving or carrying
them.
e. Bending forward from the waist: This strain the small back muscles. This can be prevented
by bending at the knee and the hips and squat when lifting or setting down object below the
waist.

2. Describe the steps needed to complete one of the following skills and apply basic
principles of body mechanics used in the procedure. This section should have at least ten
point when describing the move/skill as well as discussing good body mechanic needed.
Transferring a patient from the bed to a wheel chair using a transfer belt
