Dear Sir/Madam,
New products launch: Smart Baby Shield Plus, IL Spouse Payer Benefit Extra Rider (Jr), and
product withdrawal of Smart Baby Shield effective 16 June 2023
Great News! In order to meet the evolving protection needs of expectant mothers, we are
pleased to announce the launch of two (2) investment-linked riders for SmartProtect Junior
which will be available to our valued customers from 16 June 2023 onwards:
1. Smart Baby Shield Plus
2. IL Spouse Payer Benefit Extra Rider (Jr)
Here are some of the key highlights of the new riders.

1. Smart Baby Shield Plus (SBSP, Plan Code: H72A/B to H74A/B)
Smart Baby Shield Plus (SBSP) is our new prenatal rider with enhanced coverage for the
mother and the baby, which will replace the current selling Smart Baby Shield (SBS, Plan
Code: U95A/B) effective from 16 June 2023. This rider is attachable to new business
policies of SmartProtect Junior (SPJ) at pre-natal stage with three (3) options of coverage,
namely Essential, Superior and Grand to serve the different needs of the parent.
Here are some of the enhanced features and benefits for SBSP:
 Coverage on neonatal jaundice is based on hospitalisation for phototherapy treatment
within sixty (60) days after birth, where the requirement on relevant blood tests
results including but not limited to total serum bilirubin levels of > 250 μ mol/L
(micromol/litre) is no longer applicable.
 Extended coverage term and increased congenital conditions for the baby.
 New features such as coverage on child development disorder, postpartum and
emergency caesarean section for early delivery.
 Available to non-Malaysian mothers, subject to underwriting.
 Available to twins except for twins conceived via assisted pregnancy method such as
IVF.
 Easy enrolment for subsequent pregnancy, subject to terms and conditions.
The combination of SBSP and other medical and critical illness riders is ideal for the
mother and child as it provides early protection from prenatal stage onwards. With that,
your customers can focus on the joys of pregnancy knowing that they already have the
comprehensive cover.
As such, the last date of new business submission for current selling SBS rider
attachment to SPJ is on 15 June 2023. Kindly ensure the accuracy of information and
submit early to avoid any disappointment.

2. IL Spouse Payer Benefit Extra Rider (Jr) (IL SPBE JR), Plan Code: U114)
IL Spouse Payer Benefit Extra Rider (Jr) (IL SPBE JR) is a supplementary rider that can only
be attached alongside with IL Payer Benefit Extra Rider (Jr) (IL PBE JR) for SPJ policies.
With IL SPBE JR, we are providing a more comprehensive protection to both the parents,
i.e. the payer and the spouse of the payer to complement SPJ polices.
SPJ packaged with IL PBE JR and IL SPBE JR would mean in the event of death, TPD or any
one of the critical illness covered conditions* occurs to either one of the parents of the
Life Assured, the premiums of the policy will be waived up to the Life Assured’s age of 25
years old.
*Except for Angioplasty and other invasive treatments for coronary artery disease
The combination of IL PBE JR and IL SPBE JR is highly recommended for customers who want
a more complete coverage to both parents on their child’s SPJ policy.
We encourage you to attend the new products briefing in order to gain better understanding
and to strengthen your professionalism in selling these wonderful plans. We have
scheduled several virtual sessions from 13 June 2023 onwards as stated in the following
Appendix. Please join us by registering yourself via GREATKNOWLEDGE to ensure you are
well-informed of the new products, and successful in your role as a Life Insurance Agent.
TCF product e-assessment for these IL riders will be available from 13 June 2023 onwards.
Kindly complete the TCF soonest possible so that you can submit new business applications
once the products are launched on 16 June 2023.
