Activity 1:
Activity:
 Ask students if they like making friends. Why?Ask them to predict the topic of the day.
Read and Listen
 Students will listen to the audio track 26 along with reading the text of the story. Let students
discuss the setting, characters and theme of the story. Discuss that stories are mostly told in past
tense. Students to focus on the use of SImple Past Tense
Activity 2:
 Students to be seated in four groups. Ask them to do the following activities:
 read the story in chain, discuss the story, characers,values and the moral, use contextual clues to guess
the meanings of the words written in blue use the contextual clues to find the meanings of the words
Teacher to discuss the answers with the class after this group activity.
 Ask students to observe verbs of past tense used in the story. Discussion on regular and irregular verbs
will be carried out. Students will read the Language tip box for clarity.Students will underline the
regular and irregular verbs used in the text. And write the second & third form of verbs given in Ex 2
LB in their notebooks.
Activity 3
After a comprehensive dicussion about the text students will writeanswers to the Qs given on
pg 41.
WH words Discuss the question words or WHwords.Ask students to look at the questions ref Learner’s
Book pg. 4. Discuss the use of WH words to form Questions. Explain the use of WH words with the help of
a table by quoting examples.
Values
Students will discuss in pairs and quote examples from their life about values of kindness, empathy,
forgiveness and honesty

 Discuss the term Inventor and Invention.
 Students to look at the picture on pg. 64 and discuss the typesof inventions shown there.
 Show some pictures of famous inventions to students and askthe names of these devices /gadgets and
their inventors.
Activity 2:
 Students will listen to the audio track/transcript 36. They willlisten to some young
inventors, who are on a TV show. Students will attempt Ex 1 Activity Book pg 52.Students to talk
about inventions in pairs. They will talk aboutthe best and worst inventions. Tell them to use the
expressions given in the vocabulary box: a good idea, a badidea,useful,silly,fun
Activity 3:
 Students to look at the pictures in Ex 4 LB pg. 65 and tell what are the people doing in the
picture, for example, playing music,painting, cooking, etc.
 List down different occupations on the board; i.e., doctor, optician, engineer, painter, plumber, driver,
baker, photographer, nurse,pilot, scientist etc. Students will use different props and act out the roles
mentioned above bytaking turns to let the class guess each role.
 Students to discuss what are these words called. Explain that we all earn for a living. These are
different occupations/ professions people adopt for a living. Students to attempt Ex4 LB pg. 63.
Talk and write
 Students to be seated in groups and think critically and discusswhat they would like to invent.
 They are to draw a picture of their imaginary invention andwrite a few sentences in their notebooks
to describe it.Use capital letters and exclamation marks where needed

Prepare the flash cards of characters and vocabulary from pgs. 4, 5
Pre Reading: Students to guess the story from the title and cover illustration. Show flash cards of picture
words for making students familiar with characters to anticipate the story. Students to discuss the following
talking points and get introduced to the story.
Some sample Qs for class discussion can be: What do you think the reader is about?, Which animal do you
see in the title illustration?, Tell the colour of the animal?,What is the man in the title image doing? Describe
the man’s dressing.
Activity 2:
Students will work independently and turn wise describe the illustration on cover page in their
own words. After wards they will write three sentences about the title page
Activity 3:
 Play the audio of story reading (ladybird resources) till page 12 from the following digital

 Afterwards students will read the text one by one following the pronunciation and intonation
pattern. Explain the story in simple words for students’ comprehension. Encourage students to
guess the meaning of difficult words using their prior knowledge and the context; afterwards
write the difficult words and their meanings on whiteboard

Activity 3:
 Show the pictures of old computers. Guide students to discussabout the size, weight and
function of old computers and compare them with latest desktop/laptop, Mac Book etc.
 Show the pictures of old telephone sets to discuss how didthey look in the past. Compare them with
smart phones. Discuss how things have changed with time. Students to answer the follow up Qs at
the end
Use of English
 We use the expression used toe.g., People used to writeletters with hands before emails.
 Students to write 5 sentences using ‘used to’ in theirnotebooks.
