Presenting Complaints:
Severe pain, swelling and deformity in right knee, difficulty to perform activities of daily living.
61 years old male patient was apparently asymptomatic few months back when he complained of pain in right knee which
was insidious in onset, gradually progressive, moderate to severe in intensity, non radiating, sharp in character, associated
with gradually progressive swelling, which got aggravated on movement and partially relieved on rest and analgesics. He
also complained of gradual restrictions of range of motion and difficulty to perform activities of daily living. He was now
been admitted at BLK for further management.

Patient was thoroughly evaluated and all the surgery related complications like infection, pain, Deep vein thrombosis,
pulmonary embolism, iatrogenic injury, periprosthetic fracture, asceptic loosening, patellofemoral maltracking and
neurovascular injury were explained to the patient and attendants in details. Written and informed consent was taken. Pre
anaesthaesia check up was done. Cardiology clearance was taken for the surgery. Patient was taken up for surgery on
18/12/2023. Patient shifted to Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) for post surgery care and after stabilization patient was
shifted back to ward.1 Unit PRBC was transfused in view of low haemoglobin. Pain management opinion was taken before
discharge and dressing changed before discharge and wound found to be dry and healthy. Patient is now stable and being
discharged with following advice.

- Cap. Orofer XT one cap orally once daily after breakfast x 10 days
- Replaid powder one scoop orally once daily after breakfast x 10 days
- Tab. Chymogrand one tab orally twice daily after breakfast and dinner x 10 days
- Softovac SF powder 1tsp otally twice daily after breakfast and dinner x 5 days
- Tab Zolfresh 10 mg one tab as and when required in case of lack of sleep
- Tab. Emeset 4 mg one tab orally as and when required in case of vomiting
- Tab. TRD Contin 50 mg one tab orally as and when required in case of severe pain
- Syp. Looz 30 ml orally as when required in case of constipation

Do's & Dont's:
- Walker aided ambulation.
- Ice pack local application 4-5 times for 10-15 min.
- Keep pillow below knees over night or between legs while turning on bed
- Do not sit on low chair and indian toilet
- Physiotherapy as advised- Q drill, Straight Leg Raise, ankle pumps.
