    ShockDisplay curve (2) plus

    Instructions for applications with GPS


    In addition to the instruction manuals and the quick start guide for the MONILOG® ShockDisplay
    curve, ShockDisplay curve plus and ShockDisplay curve 2 plus, please note the following information
    when using GPS positioning.

    The use of GPS functions requires both a suitable configuration and a correct installation. The data
    logger is usually configured first, then switched off and switched on again after mounting.

    1. CONFIGURATION

    The configuration is carried out with the MONILOG® SYCUR PC software according to the user
    manual.
    Please note that for both ShockDisplay curve (plus) and ShockDisplay curve 2 plus, the intervals for
    continuous GPS recording are not set too short, because this significantly affects the battery life. In
    detail, there are differences between the devices.
    For recurrent use cases, the use of configuration files is recommended.

    ShockDisplay curve / ShockDisplay curve plus

    The difference between the two devices is that the Plus version has integrated the GPS receiver. To do
    this, the checkmark “internal” must be set. Otherwise, a receiver connected externally to RS232 is
    expected.
    If the checkmark “cyclic” is checked, a position is determined in the specified recording interval along
    with the temperature, humidity, pressure or inclination values if these are used.

    If the checkmark “event-driven” is set, a position determination is made for each registered shock
    event.
    The expected battery life is displayed depending on the settings. Therefore, select the settings in such
    a way that the transport time is covered safely.

    ShockDisplay curve 2 plus

    The devices of the second generation have extended settings and require the PC software
    MONILOG® SYCUR from version 5 for configuration.

    The GPS recording is activated by ticking the checkmarks. In contrast to older devices, the position
    can also be recorded independently of the recording interval of the other measured variables with its
    own tracking interval. Recording in both intervals is possible. However, the intervals should then differ.

    If the checkmark is set for “Shock events”, the position is determined for each registered shock. If
    the checkmark is set for “Alarm events”, the position is determined for each exceedance of the
    activated alarm limits.

    The expected battery life is displayed depending on the settings. Therefore, select the settings in such
    a way that the transport time is covered safely. See also diagram in the instruction manual on page
    21.

    2. MOUNTING

    Mount the device preferably with three mounting screws or optionally with magnetic feet without
    shock-absorbing intermediate layers and on sturdy bodies.
    The connections should preferably point downwards. If this is not possible, then mount with the battery
    compartment facing downwards or if mounted horizontally so that it does not stand in the water when
    it rains.

    The GPS antenna must have a direct view of the sky and should be mounted in such a way that it
    cannot be damaged. When using the magnetic antenna with cable, the flat magnetic side of the
    antenna points downwards. The cable should be laid in such a way that it is not squeezed and the
    plug should be hand-screwed to the device.

    Close unused connections with the protective cap and finally turn the device on with the MODE
    button.
