ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The researchers would like to express their sincere appreciation and deepest gratitude to
the following people who offered their untiring support and contributed to the fulfilment of this
study.
To our dearest subject teacher, Ms. Emerlyn L. Calumno, for her continuous guidance,
advice, effort, and patience to each and every one of us.
To our former teachers who have taught us more than what we need that served as our
advantages.
To the respondents, who really participate in our survey and for lending us their time and
full attention.
To our family, who always serve as our top inspiration in life, for giving us their full
support and guidance, as the financial needs for this study.
To our friends, who were really there to make us smile when things gone wrong, and for
their cheers and inspirational comments when we were so down.
To our classmates and other concerned people, who gave their help, care, and support
throughout the study.
Above all, a great thanks to Almighty God because given us to complete this task just in
time. Even if we face a lot of difficulties along the way to complete this task, our group still
manages to complete it.

INTRODUCTION
Moving from being a teenager to becoming an adult is an essential time in a person’s life.
It comes with lots of challenges, unknowns, and chances for growth. In the last nine years, the
world of counseling has changed a lot to meet the needs of young adults in our ever-changing
world. As Arnett (2015) mentioned, this phase is often called “emerging adulthood.” It’s a time
where people explore, develop their identity, and try to be independent.
Recently, many studies and writings from experts like Schulenberg and Schoon (2018)
and Settersten (2019) have shown that we must pay special attention to young adults’ feelings,
thoughts, and social needs in today’s world. The counseling needs of young adults have garnered
increasing attention over the past decade, driven by evolving societal dynamics and the growing
recognition of the unique challenges faced by this demographic group. Young adults face many
changes and struggles while developing themselves and in connection with that, they seek
various needs from concerned persons like counselors. Counselors have a range of
responsibilities in their communities. In connection with the young adults’ counseling needs,
four (4) major needs were provided from related works of literature. These are the need for
mental health counseling, career guidance assistance, family related problems, and academic
assistance. According to a study conducted by Lassinantti in 2018, mental health issues of young
adults are becoming more relevant as the years go by. They face this type of issue because of
their various concerns in life. They are more prone to mental health issues such as anxiety.
According to recent research (Smith & Johnson, 2019), the counseling landscape for young
adults has evolved, and the demand for mental health services among this age group has notably
increased. Issues such as identity formation, academic pressures, career-related stress, and the
influence of technology have all contributed to a heightened need for tailored counseling
interventions.
Mission: We dream of Filipinos who passionately love their country and whose values and competencies enable them to realize their full
potential and contribute meaningfully to building the nation. As a learner-centered public institution, the Department of Education continuously

Recent studies like Véronneau and Dishion (2010) have explored the impact of
academic difficulties on young adults' well-being. They claimed that academic stressors can
contribute to mental health challenges, making counseling a relevant support mechanism. This
suggests that the survey result aligns with existing research on the relationship between academic
stress and the need for counseling. Moreover, mental health challenges among young adults are a

counseling services. The survey result aligns with the broader trend of increasing demand for

Stevens identified common themes such as the increasing societal pressures, academic stressors,
and challenges in interpersonal relationships that contribute to the perceived need for counseling
among young adults. The author emphasized that recognizing and addressing these underlying
issues through counseling can play a pivotal role in promoting mental health and resilience in

counseling services. Out of the respondents, 14 or 70% “strongly agree” that the services
answered “neutral”. However, 5 or 25% responded with “disagree” stating that the services were
not effective in helping young adults with challenges or problems. In the study conducted by
Gonzales (2016), the researchers extensively explored how young adults perceive counseling
services. Their investigation involved gathering insights from a diverse group of participants.
What emerged from their survey was a clear consensus among respondents. A significant
number of young adults strongly agreed that counseling services were effective in addressing
challenges they faced. According to the results, it seems like young adults really like and benefit
from counseling. It tells us that counseling is seen as a valuable way to deal with problems. This

Therefore, mental health concerns as a crucial aspect for young adults, whereas relationship

counseling plays a pivotal role in fostering a significant positive impact on the psychological

Conclusions
Based on the results from the methods used to collect data for this study, the researchers
concluded that the number of young adults who do not seek help from a counselor is greater than
those who seek help from a counselor. And those who sought assistance provided by the social
workers/ counselors helped the respondents to overcome and provide for their needs.
The researchers also concluded that the respondents need mental health counseling, career
guidance assistance, family issues, relationship problems, academic stress and substance abuse.
Mental health counseling is the assistance that young adults seek the most while substance abuse
is their least needed assistance from counselors. We also concluded that counseling is so
important for young adults. Counseling have been effective and has positive impact on the lives
weren’t around. The significance of counselors is that they assist young adults’ sort through their

Recommendations
The researchers developed perceptions that could be given attention based on the
presentation and interpretation of the study’s outcomes and conclusions. This study has
contributed to taking the personal preferences of young adults ages 18 to 21 years old regarding
their counseling needs. As the study progressed, a few areas surfaced as suggested areas for
appreciation or quotes to spread awareness to young adults that they are not alone, we have
counselors.
Additionally, we should leverage the power of online platforms to spread awareness. Craft
compelling, shareable posts and utilize relevant hashtags to reach a wider audience. Encourage
young adults to participate in the conversation and share their thoughts on counseling needs.
