emf. equation.
(iv) Define the following terms with reference to alternating current. Average value RMS
value and peak factor with mathematical equations. Derive the equation for sinusoidal
waveform.

(i) Explain the principle of operation of npn transistor. Also explain the significance of

(ii) Using superposition theorem, calculate the current in the 2 Ohm resistor given in fig. 2.

(iii) A 3 phase, 50Hz, 6 pole induction motor has a full load percentage slip of 3%. Find the
synchronous speed and actual speed. Draw the torque slip characteristic of 3 phase
induction motor.
(iv) In 25 KVA, 1000 / 100 V transformer, the iron losses and cu losses are 300 W and 350
W respectively.
(vi) Explain the operation of dc shunt motor. A 250 V dc shunt motor takes 30A current
while running at full load. The resistance of motor armature and field winding are 0.1
Ohm and 200 Ohm respectively. Determine the back emf generated in motor, when it
runs on full load.
