WORKSHEET:
1.) How can eco- literacy contribute in developing a sustainable environment?

-When we educate children the importance of the environment to survive in this planet,
children will understand the natural systems that sustain life on earth. They will be able to know
how to takes care of the environment and how to protect it. That’s why eco-literacy is important in
developing a sustainable environment for the future generation.

2.) In a matrix, discuss the roles of teachers, learners and the school in attaining sustainable
environmental goals. Be able to discuss it comprehensively.

Roles in attaining sustainable environmental goals.

Teachers Teachers plays an important role in attaining sustainable
environmental goals, because they play a significant role in
student’s life. They are the one who provide information to the
learners, like teaching them the concept of sustainable living,
caring and protecting the environment since the children are the
future of this planet. Teacher should be aware of right curriculum,
pedagogy and discipline to infuse the concept of sustainability in
student’s life.
Learners Students also play a vital role in attaining sustainable
environmental goals, because they are the active co-creator of
their own education. Meaning they are going to put their
learnings about our environment into practice from what they
learn in eco-literacy they will apply this in real life situation. Like
giving their time and skills for protecting and caring the
environment, participating environmental programs, and
educating friends and families about the current situation of our
very own environment or planet that we living in.
Schools Schools are also essential in attaining sustainable environmental
goals, because they are the institution that provides education to
children. Education about our environment, or teaching
sustainable education to children why environment is important,
how it should be treated and play a crucial role in the future of its
existence.

3.) How can you create a green school?

-We can create green schools, by building schools who are environmental friendly at the
same time conducive for learning schools with healthy air to breath and conditions that encourage
learning, children are happier, healthier and perform better academically. By using natural energy
for example using solar energy in schools. And by planting more.

How can this help and benefit Philippine schools?

- It can help and benefit Philippine schools to reduce cost of energy into much cheaper, and
reduce pollution. Planting more tress, flowering plants and vegetables in school it provides cleaner
air, food for the table and adds a beautiful ambiance of the surroundings.
4.) How can Eco-Literacy be integrated in the curriculum, practiced in the school and demonstrated
in the classroom?

-Through incorporating activities that will foster the knowledge and skills of the students
about the environment and sustainable living. Like for simply proper disposing of their trash or
garbage in the classroom. Engaging them to hands-on activities like

making a small garden outside the classroom during afternoon break, encourage children to
participate school activities like tree planting, clean-up drive etc. And explain to them that their
simple acts have a big impact to the environment.

5.) What are the seven environmental principle of nature? Discuss each one.

-1, Nature knows best – People need to understand nature and have to abide by the rules it
imposes. In essence, one must not go against the natural processes if he/she would like to ensure a
continuous and steady supply of resources.

2, All forms of life are important – Each organism plays a fundamental in nature therefore,
all living things must be considered as invaluable instruments in maintaining balance in the
ecosystem.

3, Everything is connected to everything else – In an ecosystem, all components interact

with each other to ensure that the system is sustainable, of which any outside interference may
result in an imbalance and deterioration of the system.

4, Everything changes – People must rethink their relationship with the environment
through relevant technologies for positive changes.

5, Everything must go somewhere – Since wastes may go back to one’s own backyard in
some other forms, it is important to become aware of the different types of waste, classify and
segregate those that are toxic and potentially hazardous.

6, Ours is a finite earth – Awareness of the earth’s limited resources leads to conscious effort
to change one’s attitude and initiative to recycle them.

7, Nature is beautiful and we are steward of God’s creation – Being the most intelligent and
being gifted with reason, humans are capable of controlling and taking care of the creation to their
own advantage.
