Lesson 4: Parts and Functions of the Human Circulatory System
Lesson 1:
Parts of
the Human
Respiratory
System
Why do we breathe?
What is Human Respiratory
System?
Respiratory system is made up
of the organs in the body that
help us to breathe.
Parts of the Human Respiratory
System

Nose Nasal passageway/ Pharynx

nasal cavity (throat) Larynx
(voice box or Adam's apple)
Parts of the Human Respiratory
System

Trachea Lungs Bronchi

(windpipe)

Activity 1: Name Me!
Objective: Name the parts of the human respiratory system.
Directions: Observe the drawing of the respiratory system in
figure 1. Label the parts with the given words inside the box.
Write your answer on ½ crosswise.
Activity 2: What a Bunch of
Grapes!
Objective: Name the parts of the lungs using the bunch of
grapes model of the respiratory system.
Activity 3:Matching Type
Objective: Name the parts of the human respiratory system.
Directions: Match column A with B. Write only the letter of the
correct answer.
Activity 4:
Directions: Listed below are the parts of the human respiratory
system. When air enters our nose, it passes to different parts
before exchange of gases occurs. Arrange the correct sequence
through which air passes after it enters your nose or mouth on
the blanks below.
Lesson 2:
Functions of
the Human
Respiratory
System
Functions of the Human Respiratory
System

Nose- is the entrance of air into

the body.
Functions of the Human Respiratory
System

Nasal passageway/nasal
cavity- it is where the air is
filtered, moistened and
warmed.
Functions of the Human Respiratory
System

Pharynx- controls the passage

of air to the lungs and food
(from digestion) to the
esophagus.
Functions of the Human Respiratory
System
Larynx- connects the pharynx to
the trachea and contains the vocal
cord. It prevents the passage of
food into the lungs. It controls the
flow of air to the lungs.
Functions of the Human Respiratory
System

Trachea- is the main

passageway of air into the
lungs.
Functions of the Human Respiratory
System

Lungs- They help oxygen we

breathe enter the red blood cells and
get rid of carbon dioxide when we
breathe out.
Functions of the Human Respiratory
System

Bronchi (Bronchus)- carry air into

each lung.
Functions of the Human Respiratory
System

Bronchioles- are tiny tubes

that connect the bronchi to
the alveoli.
Functions of the Human Respiratory
System

Alveoli (alveolus) - the

exchange of oxygen and
carbon dioxide takes place.
Functions of the Human Respiratory
System

Diaphragm- controls the

breathing process.
Epiglottis- is a flap of tissue located at the upper end of
the larynx.
