1. ANK INDIA
ANKANK is a non-governmental and non-profit making organization (NGO) founded in the year 2004, based and working in
Delhi, NCR, rural areas of Bihar in India. ANK is a Hindi word which means “Digit” in English. The journey of ANK as a registered
NGO began in 2004. ANK was established by like-minded people to provide education to the underprivileged children, to build
better lively hood opportunities for the rural and underprivileged urban youth, to enrich quality health services for adolescent
girls and women. The thought process behind ANK is that quality education is the only medium that can improve the living
standards of the poor people. It is the most powerful tool, which can equip them to make informed and intelligent choices
about their lives and future. ANK believes that education is the only weapon to fight poverty and truly empower the children
who tomorrow will be the face of India

Objectives –
ANK dream of an India with a vision where no child remains deprived of education and go to school and are provided with
proper healthcare and shelter. Our mission is to empower economically backward children through knowledge, health care,
education, vocational training and commitment and the right set of values to take it forward.

Evolution –
Since its establishment as a NGO in Delhi, ANK has grown both in scope and in geographical coverage. More than 20,000
children have benefited from our learning program for the out-ofschool children. Through our health programs, we have touched
the lives of more than 40000 underprivileged families. Our endeavour has been to increase the access of ICT (Information and
Communication Technology) among the underprivileged children and youth. Through our various skill development training
programs, we have provided employability to more than 7500 underprivileged youth in various sectors like Retail, Hospitality, IT
firms, Hospitals, BPO, Electrical and Civil sectors. The Current Executive Director of ANK is Mr. Abhishek Kishore.

2. Vidya and Child
Vidya& Child works to bridge the gap for those children who have little or no
access to education. It was started in 1998 with the objective of providing a
creative learning environment for the underprivileged children. It caters to
children from Nursery to Class XII & beyond.

EVOLUTION
Ms. SupriyaAkhaury is the Founder Trustee and Director of Vidya& Child. The
organisation, which started with two children, is now reaching out to over 1800
children across 5 locations.

LEGAL STATUS
Vidya& Child is a project managed by Jayaprakash Narayan Memorial Trust registered
as a Public Charitable Trust in New Delhi, India.

MANAGEMENT
NGOs work with trade organisation to educate businesses about the evils of child
labour. Locals in villages and cities are also instructed to report child labour at
businesses. Reducing its demand is one of the most effective ways of ending child
trafficking and labour.

OBJECTIVE
Vidya& Child works with the mission to help bridge the gap for those children who
need education and have no access to the facilities for learning, existing in our
society.

3. PEOPLE FOR ANIMAL
People for Animals, PFA, is India's largest Non-Governmental Animal Welfare Organization with a nationwide
network of 26 hospitals, 165 units, 60 mobile units, and 2.5 Lakh members. We work to rescue and rehabilitate sick and
needy animals. We set up and run shelters, ambulance services, sterilization programs, treatment camps and disaster
rescue missions for animals. We conduct education programs in schools, fight cases in court, and lobby on animal
issues in parliament.

Objectives –

just about animals. It is about us. Our living conditions, our children, our earth. Cruelty to animals has a significant and
irreversible impact on peaceful societies, human health, the economy, and the environment. PFA aims to set up an animal
welfare centre in each of the nation’s 600 districts.

Evolution –
The Founder of PFA, Maneka Gandhi, has made several statements regarding the future direction of People For Animals, with
plans to establish over 600 shelters and provide more ambulance services in every district of India. Gandhi also plans to ensure
that there is an increase in the amount of government-funded cow shelters, monitor the transportation of animals to ensure
it is conducted in a humane way and to extend laws regarding animal sacrifice to all states of India. Further movements of
this organisation in the future also include training farmers in organic farming, instigating alternatives to animal testing and
introducing animal welfare lessons in schools across India.

MANEKA GANDHI is the Founder and the current Chair Person of PEOPLE FOR ANIMAL.

Maneka Sanjay Gandhi (born 26 August 1956) is an Indian politician, animal rights activist, and environmentalist. She is a
member of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian parliament and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

4. Child Rights and You

Child Rights and You (CRY) is an Indian non-governmental organization (NGO)


that works towards ensuring children's rights.

EVOLUTION
The organization was started in 1979 by Rippan vKapur, an Air India purser. CRY
works with 99 grass root projects across 19 states in India and has impacted the lives
of over three million children.

OBJECTIVE
The organization focuses on changing behaviors and practices at the grassroots level
and influencing public policy at a systemic level, to create an environment where
children are the priority.

5. OXFAM INDIA

Oxfam India is a movement of people working to end discrimination and create a free and just society. We work to ensure that
Adivasis, Dalits, Muslims, and women and girls have safe-violence free lives with freedom to speak their mind, equal
opportunities to realize their rights, and a discrimination free future. We research to find lasting solutions to end rising
inequalities and exclusion of marginalized communities from getting decent jobs, quality free education and healthcare. We
campaign with the public to demand policy changes from governments for creating a just and inclusive country as envisioned in
the Indian Constitution. We mobilize support to save, protect and rebuild lives of the poorest of poor affected by crisis and
humanitarian disasters.

Objectives –
Millions of people in India face discrimination on the basis of their gender, caste and economic backgrounds. These interwoven
and complex inequalities further divide our societies and make the voices of millions go unheard. Unequal societies tend to have
higher levels of inequality and poverty. We are here to beat discrimination and inequality. We believe in creating a society
where people are not forced to fight for their right to life and security, to be heard, right to education, health, shelter, food
and water. All lives are equal, and no one should face discrimination in realizing their rights. We believe the time to act is now.

Legal Status –
Oxfam India is a not-for-profit organization registered under Section 8 of Indian Companies Act, 2013. While Oxfam has been
present in India for 67 years it was formed as an India entity in its current form in 2008. Oxfam India is led and managed by a
completely Indian staff.

• Oxfam India is a member of the global confederation of 20 Oxfam’s and has a very eminent advisory board. Oxfam India’s
Board of Directors comprises of experts from various sectors with wide based interest’ and knowledge of social development
issues consisting of stalwarts like Karnik, Mridula Bajaj, Gagan Sethi among others. The Board is chaired by Mr. Kiran Karnik, a
renowned policy and strategy analyst, who has had a long and distinguished career. He was President of NASSCOM and the
Managing Director of Discovery Network in India. He has been a member of many key government committees, and is presently a

For every rupee received, 75% goes on our core programme work, 16% is spent generating future funds and 9% is spent on
administration and governance.
75%: Ensures we can provide:

1. Humanitarian response during Emergencies and natural disasters.

2. Long-term development programmes around Education, Health, Gender Justice, Land reforms and Water governance.

3. . Campaigning and advocacy that changes the policies and practices which cause poverty and inequality in the first
place.

4. 16%: Ensures we are doing everything we can to raise funds from different types of donors and to let the public know
about our work. This has a high return on investment because it encourages people to support what we do, meaning we
can reach even more people from marginalized communities.

5. 9%: Ensures we work in the most effective and efficient way, and that the money donated is spent wisely. Our
financial reporting is carried out to the highest international standards and our full set of independently audited

conduct throughout the year. We can follow these pages and register for any
of the preferable industries.

 You can search for internship opportunities in any functioning NGO through
platforms such as Intern shala and Naukri.com. Many NGOs continuously search
for volunteers who can participate in wellness drives or contribute in other
ways. This is the best option for students. I am also serving for a content
