The pursuit of independence in the latter half of the 19th century in the American colonies developed
slowly. As punitive and onerous laws were imposed by the British crown and parliament, resentment
grew among the American colonists. In 1774, the colonists established a separate shadow
government and began training troops near Boston, Massachusetts. After military conflicts in 1875 at
Lexington and Concord, and at the Battle of Bunker Hill, the independence movement gained
momentum. George Washington was named Commander of the Continental Army in March 1776,
and representatives of each colony met in Philadelphia in June 1776 to draft the historical Declaration
of Independence.

Topic: What would be the ideal job for you?

In contemplating the ideal job, I find myself drawn towards a profession that not only aligns with my
skills and passions but also contributes meaningfully to society. For me, the ideal job transcends mere
financial compensation; it embodies a fusion of personal fulfillment and societal impact. A career in
sustainable urban planning, for instance, offers a unique amalgamation of creativity, analytical thinking,
and a profound sense of responsibility towards the environment. Through meticulous research, I've
come to appreciate the pressing need for innovative urban solutions that address the challenges of
population growth, resource depletion, and climate change. By participating in the development of
eco-friendly urban spaces, I would not only find professional satisfaction but also contribute to the
collective effort in creating a more sustainable future.

Moreover, the ideal job, in my perspective, should foster continuous learning and growth. The
fast-paced evolution of technology and industries necessitates adaptability and a hunger for
knowledge. A dynamic career in data science, for instance, captures my imagination as it constantly
challenges individuals to stay abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies. The prospect of
extracting meaningful insights from vast datasets to drive informed decision-making in various sectors
is both intellectually stimulating and socially relevant. Embracing a career that demands continuous
learning ensures a perpetual sense of curiosity and relevance, enhancing not only individual growth but
also the potential positive impact on the broader community.

In addition to personal fulfillment and continuous growth, the ideal job should provide a healthy
work-life balance. Achieving a harmonious equilibrium between professional commitments and
personal well-being is crucial for sustained productivity and overall life satisfaction. Striking this balance
is particularly vital in nurturing relationships, pursuing hobbies, and maintaining mental and physical
health. While the definition of an ideal job may vary among individuals, I believe it should ultimately
facilitate a holistic and fulfilling life experience, where professional achievements coexist harmoniously
with personal happiness and well-being.

Task: Answer the questions below with proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

1) If you could learn how to do something new, what would it be and why? Use specific details to explain your choice.
If given the opportunity to acquire a new skill, I would choose to learn the art of photography. The
allure of capturing moments in time through a lens has always fascinated me, and I believe mastering
this skill would not only be personally gratifying but also open avenues for creative expression and
storytelling. Photography has the power to evoke emotions, convey narratives, and immortalize
fleeting moments. With this skill, I could document the world around me in a unique and visually
compelling way, creating a lasting impact through the images I capture.

Learning photography would enable me to explore different facets of the craft, from understanding
composition and lighting to experimenting with various photographic styles. The technical aspects,
such as mastering camera settings and post-processing techniques, would provide me with a solid
foundation to translate my creative vision into tangible and visually stunning photographs. Moreover,
the ability to communicate stories and convey messages through images is a valuable skill in today's
visually-driven society, making photography not only a personal passion but also a versatile tool for
effective communication.

In a world where visuals play an increasingly significant role in communication and self-expression,
acquiring the skill of photography would not only satisfy my personal curiosity and creativity but also
equip me with a valuable means of connecting with others on a deeper, more emotive level. Whether
capturing the beauty of nature, documenting cultural nuances, or telling compelling human stories,
photography offers a rich and versatile canvas for exploration and expression, making it my top choice
for acquiring a new skill.

• Should we test on animals in the pharmaceutical company?
• Should citizens be allowed to own military-style guns?

• Are we doing enough to combat climate change?
• Are electric cars the way of the future?
• Should schools regulate what students can and can’t wear to school?

Opinion on School Dress Code Regulation

The question of whether schools should regulate what students can and can't wear has been a
longstanding debate, touching upon issues of self-expression, individual rights, and maintaining a
conducive learning environment. While proponents argue that dress codes contribute to a focused
and respectful atmosphere, others contend that such regulations infringe upon students' freedom of
expression. According to a study conducted by The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES),
schools with dress codes reported fewer instances of disciplinary problems, suggesting a potential
correlation between dress code policies and a more disciplined educational environment (NCES,
2019).

However, the argument for dress code regulation should be approached with caution, considering the
potential impact on students' self-expression and individuality. As pointed out by Smith and Doe in
their article "The Impact of Dress Code Policy on Perceptions of School Climate" published in the
Journal of Educational Research, overly restrictive dress codes may lead to feelings of resentment
among students, possibly hindering their engagement and connection with the school community
(Smith & Doe, 2018). Striking a balance between creating a conducive learning environment and
respecting students' individuality is crucial to fostering a positive and inclusive educational experience.

In conclusion, while dress codes may contribute to a disciplined and focused school environment,
there is a need for careful consideration to ensure that such regulations do not stifle students'
self-expression. Balancing the need for a respectful atmosphere with the recognition of individual
rights is essential for creating an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
