Ms. Viloria, kindly read the Direction: The class will be divided into
direction. three groups and each group will choose
their representative and they will be given
a sentences to act the possible missing
word in it. The fastest group to answer 3
sentences will be exempted to the next
activity.
Example:
The word ‘go’, ‘going’ and ‘to go’
are action words that are used in a
sentence that states an action of
proceeding and moving to another
place.
And in the form of verbal we can use
these words differently. Where they
can act as an adjective, adverb or a
noun.
Yes Ma’am.
Do you understand the use of verbal?
Activity:
1.) Cath writes novels.
2.) Writing is fun.
3.) The smiling baby has dimples.
4.) He sings loudly.
If you’re done, may I call Ma’am they have different use in the
someone to read and explain sentence.
her/his answer. 1.) The word “write” represents an
action or a verb.
2.) The word “writing” acts as a noun
in the sentence.
3.) The word “smiling” acts as an
adjective and it describe the word
baby.
4.) The word “loudly” is an adverb
that modifies the verb sings.
That’s correct!
So, class it seems like you all have
understand the use of verbal in
sentences.
Verbal comes in three different
types:
a.) Infinitives
b.) Participle
c.) Gerund
Each of these types of verbal is
incredibly common in both simple
and complex sentences
Example:
Dancing is not allowed inside the
library.
Can you identify the gerund in this
sentence?
Ma’am, the word ‘dancing’ is the
gerund and the subject in the
sentence.
Like nouns, gerunds can function in
various ways in a sentence.
Here are the examples of gerunds in
different functions:
Running is Olivia’s favorite activity.
(Subject)
Olivia loves running around her
block. (Direct object)
Olivia spends her free time running.
(Indirect object)
Example:
Frightened, the panicking boy
jumped away from the spider.
Frightened, the past participle of the
verb to frighten, describes the noun
boy.
Panicking is the present participle
form of the verb, to panic. It modifies
the noun boy
