Term 4 2020 Online Module

Outline and Assessment Task

UNIT 4 CHRISTIAN PRAYER

UNIT DESCRIPTION

This unit aims to provide students with an understanding that prayer is a gift from God which
invites a prayerful response, Catholics turn to God in order to encounter the divine mystery and
deepen their relationship. Students should come to recognise that the different ways of praying
reflect the varied circumstance and dimensions of a relationship with God. Students will be
provided with information about prayer in the Catholic tradition and some examples of different
ways of praying ranging from the public prayer of the Church, the Mass, through to private
meditation, all of which provide moments of praise, thanksgiving, petition, sorrow, blessing,
adoration, and intercession.
