For many, there is nothing more enjoyable than the exercise and camaraderie enjoyed by their
team. Whether it's basketball, football, softball or volleyball, it's fun to know that you always
have a field nearby to practice.
But some athletes, are taking things to the next level. Instead of traditional sports, they are
looking for something that offers them more: extreme activities.
These so-called extreme sports are becoming more and more popular. In fact, activities such as
mountain biking, snowboarding and skateboarding, kiting and wakeboarding continue to attract
an increasing number of athletes each year. At the same time, experts have noted a decline in
other sports that are considered more traditional. This is most likely related to several factors:
from adrenaline to the positive aspects on the mental and physical health of participating in an
extreme sport.
This study aims to understand the main characteristics of wakeboarding and to analyze the
wakeboarding structure in Romania. There are several opportunities to practice this sport in
Romania, still the infrastructure of the sport is not developed.
This research tries to find an answer to the question: " are there any opportunities of developing
wakeboarding in Romania?".
This research paper starts with an overview of this sport characteristics and my experience with
wakboarding. After that, a short description of the sport and the materials needed, and facilities
will follow. In the last chapter the organization of wakeboarding in Romania and the commercial
opportunieis will be analysed. The research will continue with the analysis of the recreational
opportunies for practicing this sport in Romania and in conclusion the answer to the research
question will be presented.

safe. Sometimes this only involves wearing a safety helmet, other times working with a trained
professional. So make sure you have the necessary protective equipment for any extreme sport that
attracts you and the right training scheme. Also, don't forget to always check the condition of the
equipment before you start.
