Why should the host family choose you and not another au pair?
Because I have the necessary skills and attitudes. I like to learn new things. I also like
spending time with children and I am convinced that I can contribute more to the family
than any other au pair.
The host family should choose me because I am a responsible person, I like to help
others, I learn quickly. I like to understand children in order to establish a relationship
with them. I can also teach them my language
I would try to talk with the kids and explain to them why it’s bad what they do. If they
don’t accept what I say to them, I should talk with the parents to get support or that the
parents punish them. The most important thing is communication.

Working from home has its good and bad points. The good thing is that you can save
money and time to spend on other activities. But the downside is that you don't
socialize in person with your peers.
Yes, I have always liked children because they are curious about everything. Also,
since I was very young I have been surrounded by children in my house (cousins,
nephews and niece) and I have always been interested in caring, playing and teaching
them new things.
In my free time I like to go to the cinema, I like to exercise, Maybe read a book or
meditate. I also like to go to the stadium when my favorite soccer team plays, the team
name is Deportivo Cali. And spend time with my loved ones.
15. Would you feel comfortable taking the kids to the pool?
Yes, I would feel very calm because I love the water.I know how to swim and I can
take care of children in the pool.
I work in my house, I have a home office. I work for Play Us Media as a Risk and
compliance Analyst. My work hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m from Monday to Friday.
Between my tasks are writing processes and documents of the company and making
daily reports. For me, working from home has its good and bad points. The good thing
is that you can save money and time to spend on other activities. But the downside is

I have many favorite movies and I especially like romantic, fantasy, action and comedy
movies. But I love watching over and over the Harry Potter movies because I love the
fantasy world that JK Rowling invented. These movies feed my inner child. My favorite
character is Luna Lovegood because she's a very intelligent girl, she has a different
view of the world and she's amazing.
22. What kind of music do you like? /What is your favorite singer?
I really like all genres of music except heavy metal. But I don’t have a favorite one.
However, one of my favorite bands is called ZOE, it's Mexica and it's rock.
Yes, I do. I listen to music in English. My favorites are Coldplay, Green Day, Katy Perry
and The Beatles.
My experience in taking care of children began with my sister who has children
Sebastian 1 years old and Juan Esteban 7 years old. I helped get Sebas ready to go
to daycare. I made breakfast for him and helped Juan with his homework while my
sister worked. And since they came into my life I have taken care of them when my
sister needs it. They stay at my house or I stay at theirs.
Also I have helped some close friends to take care of their kids, because I have always
liked it. Normally I had to help them with their homework, give them food and be on
the lookout for anything they needed.
I have always felt a connection with children, I like to teach them new things and play
with them. On the other hand, I also wanted to have a new experience and improve
my level of English because it is very important for work, travel and life in general. So
I decided to be an Au Pair.
Because I have the necessary skills and attitudes. I like to learn new things. I also like
spending time with children and I am convinced that I can contribute more to the family
than any other au pair.

I see myself With a stable working life here in Colombia, building a family and
helping my parents in whatever way I can.
What would you say in the interviews to the families when you are not
understanding a question?
I would ask them to please speak a little more slowly and be patient(peichon) with me
so I can understand, besides that if they could ask me the question in a different way.
I was with my family and my boyfriend at my house. My mom prepares the food I want
and my sisters buy me a cake.
I think it's important first to get to know the children, to know what kind of activities they
like to do. Some activity ideas could be baking a cake or cookies, cinema day with
popcorn. Make mini projects for example crafts. Maybe, we will go to the park,
museum, we can go for an ice cream, and have a picnic. All these activities after
completing the tasks they have and according to the ages and tastes of the children.
26. Do you have any problem living with a family and animals?
No, I don't have a problem. I would like to find a family with pets. I love animals.
27. Do you follow any special diets? / Would you live with a family with a
special diet?
No, I have no problem living with a family that has a special diet as long as it doesn't
affect me.
28. Describe any other talent or skill you have / What are your hobbies?
My additional talents are helping others, following cooking recipes. My hobbies are
going to the movies, dancing, reading, listening to music, and going for walks in nature.
It all depends on the emergency. The first thing I would do it’s to put the children safe,
if it is very serious I would call (911), then I would call the family to tell them what
happened and I would do what they tell me to do.
31. Let’s pretend there is a fire in the house… what would you do?
I must keep calm, so the kids don't get scared. Then, I take the kids outside and call
911, and then I call the parents.
I got my driver's license seven years ago. But my experience is regular because I didn't
have a car. However, this month My dad got a car and I will be able to practice more.
33. Would you be fine living far away from home? Homesick…
I think that it's normal to miss my family and my house, but I can get over it. I would
call them EVERY day.
34. If a teacher calls you to tell you THAT the kid IS sick, what would you do?
I would immediately call their parents and go to school for him or her and take her to
the hospital if it’s necessary or take her home to rest.
35. Describe a normal day... What do you usually do?
Every day I wake up at 7.00 am. I get ready, have breakfast and clean up. At 8:00 I
start working. At 1 pm I have my lunch break. When it ends I continue working until
6:00 pm. Then maybe I'll go out with my friends or stay at home watching a movie or
reading.
I usually wake up at 7:00 am from Monday to Friday, but I have no problem adjusting
my schedule if necessary. When I went to the gym I woke up at 5:30am with no
problem. On weekends I wake up a little later unless I have things to do.
During the week I usually go to bed at 11:00 pm. On weekends it depends on whether
I go out at night or not.
I don't practice any specific sport, however I like to walk or I going to the gym

Christmas in Paris, we went skiing to Andorra and we visited Munich. On this trip I saw
the snow and can play with it. I liked all the places I visited, especially Munich because
of the history of the city, but the one I liked the least was Paris because it was very
dirty.

42. What can you tell the host families about Colombia?
Colombia is a mixture of everything. In Colombia you can find the best typical food of
each region. Colombia is biodiversity, there are magical places to visit like Salento.
People are very friendly, you can visit places like Cali, the place where I live,from which
they are going to fall in love with. It is a very beautiful city with very friendly people.
My best trip was three months ago. I was in Barcelona visiting my sister Claudia. We

48.Tell me the worst experience you have had in your job or in university or
a trip.
My worst experience in University was when I failed my first subject of all life. It was in
the fourth semester. the matter is called “Investigación de Operaciones!”
My worst experience at work has been the permanent availability of work at home. For
example, if you're in the bathroom and don't respond on time, they may think you're
not working.
It is not a "worst experience" but my most difficult experience was when my mother
was in treatment for cancer. Now she is very well and healthy.
On Saturdays my mom has a family lunch so my sisters come to visit. We also like to
go out to small towns near the city.
Public speaking is not my forte, also speaking freely about my feelings. But I am
working every day to improve.
Last weekend, I went out with my sisters, because Claudia, who lives in Spain, came
to visit. So I was with my family all weekend..
54. What would you tell them about your city? What places do you recommend
visiting?
I would tell them that my city is warm because of the people and the weather. Also It
is a colorful place with delicious food. I would recommend that they go to a restaurant
in San Antonio. However, care must be taken to avoid certain areas of the city for
safety.
I think the most important thing is communication. I would try to solve the problem by
talking to them.
57. What do you think about the culture of The United States?
58. How do you celebrate Christmas with your family? What do you do with your
family at Christmas?
My whole family gets together, each of my sisters brings a different dish to share. At
midnight we give the gifts to each other, we stay a while longer talking.
Must be patient, humble, charismatic, organized and respectful. A person like me.
Pride and Prejudice of Jane Austin has been one of the books that I liked the most,
but I feel that I have not yet found the best book.
61. If you are alone in the park with the host children and one of them gets hurt,
what would you do?
It depends: if it’s a small wound, I would help the child. But if it's something very
serious, I call 911 or I would take him to the hospital. Then, I would call the parents.
Yes, I like to cook. I like to prepare breakfast and cook following a recipe.
64. What would you prepare for breakfast for the children?
I can prepare for the children: pancakes, eggs, sandwiches, juices or fruit bowls,

I have two options: talk with the family to solve it, or find another family, if
communication does not help with the problem.
66. Why did you choose the United States to be an Au Pair, and not somewhere
else?
The most important thing was to do it with a reliable agency and the destination option
to learn English is the United States. In addition, this country has many things that call
my attention because I like its culture, the ease of meeting people from other parts of
the world and learning English.

I would try to talk to them. If they don't care what I think, I would look for another family.
