    1. The opening scene of the film shows a dramatization of a family's


    interaction with social media. What do you think the purpose of this
    scene is?

    The girl is so addicted to her phone that she would isolate herself from her
    family, the mom seemed to have gotten her the phone Because her other
    classmates had one.

    2. There is a scene that visualizes how social media algorithms work by


    personifying them as AI agents. What do these scenes tell us about
    the way that algorithms function?

    They build a model of us and would take our information and target us
    with ads that get us to stay on the internet

    3. In the scene where Tristan Harris and the other ex-Silicon Valley
    employees demonstrate how apps use push notifications to
    manipulate users, what was your reaction? Did it make you reflect
    on your own app usage?

    It seemed shocking for a split second, but then it seems like I had already
    expected it since ai are getting more advanced.

    4. The film addresses social media’s role in the increase in youth mental
    health concerns. What are thoughts on this? Should social media
    companies be held more responsible for regulating their platforms
    and usage?
    Yes and no, I think they should be held somewhat responsible. But we
    should have figure a way to regulate our time of using social media.

    5. The film addresses the role of social media in spreading


    misinformation, and social media’s role in political polarization. How
    did this scene contribute to your understanding of the problem of
    fake news, misinformation and algorithms that impact what media
    you see?

    The media we see might not be what others see, when we think
    people are stupid for such an obvious reason, we don’t realise that
    they probably don’t see the same information

    6. The film concludes with a call to action. How well did this scene leave
    you with a sense of purpose and a desire to make positive changes
    in your digital habits or advocate for change? What do you feel that
    social media are responsible for in regards to creating change?
    What are individual users' responsibilities?

    I don’t think that people would agree, I as a person is someone who is


    addicted to being online. As long as people find their way to regulate
    themselves with social media, it’s hard to break old habits. But people with
    an addiction with being online will struggle with a ‘positive change’. I
    believe as of right now I have a somewhat healthy habit of being online
    and it was a major change to what I was doing before.
