FILE CARD BOX CONSTRUCTION
1. If posy lid top, floral box front, or sunshine box front is to be used,
build the first by carefully following step 1 of the Basic Instructions.
2. Cut all remaining glass pieces and wrap each in 3/8" foil.
3. Reinforce hinge area of box back by adding a 1 1/2" long additional
piece of 3/8" foil. Overlap existing foil slightly and place equal
amounts on front and back sides. Trim away excess, leaving a 1/2" tall
triangle front and back. (Figure 1)
4. Build the box portion of project by carefully following steps 3 through
6. It is important that the sides, front, and back sit on the base as
directed.
5. Build the lid portion of project upside down as though it were a box,
again placing sides, front, and back on the base. However, in this case
the side pieces will extend out beyond the back piece and the back
piece will fit between them. (Figure 2)
6. Tape the finished lid in place on the finished box. Place brass hinge on
back side in position shown. (Figure 3) Flux only the outer edges of
flat part of hinge. Solder hinge to box, being sure not to touch the
hinge’s center moving parts.
7. Remove tape; clean, patina if desired.
8. Fill with dividers and file cards, coupons, recipes, etc.
