2024 FAQs

1. Where is Camporee being held in 2024?

A beautiful site called Timberlake Ranch Camp in Marquette, NE just northeast of Grand Island, NE. You can
view their website here: https://timberlake.org/

2. What kind of activities can I expect?

Included with your registration: flag ceremonies, campfires, hiking, beach access, beach volleyball, giant
foosball, Girl Scout badge activities, basketball court, and more. Available with sign up: swimming, Blob,
kayaking, canoeing. Available with sign up and additional fee for girls only: horseback riding and archery.

3. Why are horseback riding and archery only open to girls?

Camporee typically has a large number of attendees. Due to limited space, limited time, and a limited number of
horses we are only able to open up spots to girl attendees. Archery and horseback riding are available with an
additional fee and space is limited, first come first served.

4. Will there be a schedule?

Yes, you will receive a packet with a schedule, badge activities, t-shirts for attendees, and patch.

5. Is the tent cost per person, per site or per tent?

The tent cost is $30 per person for the weekend.

6. Are cabins restricted by age?

No, cabin camping is available to all ages. There are climate-controlled cabins available for $60 per person for
the weekend, Tree Topper Cabins (not climate controlled) available for $40 per person for the weekend, and
tent camping available for $30 per person for the weekend. Any age can stay in any accommodations.

7. Are there showers at the facility?

There is a bath house near the Tree Topper Cabins. Climate controlled cabins have modern restrooms and
showers in the same building. Tent campers will have bath house restroom and shower access.

8. How will we have access to water?

There are multiple kitchens, spigots, bath houses, and restrooms available where you can get water.
1. How should we prepare our food?
It is suggested that you cook on a gas or propane stove or bring no cook meals. Stoves are available upon request, but
there is a limited number, first come first served. Coolers are of course welcome for food storage.

There is one small kitchenette with stove and refrigerator access available to climate-controlled campers. Space will be
limited and is first come first served. Refrigerator storage is also available for medications as needed for all campers. Any
food placed in common spaces should be labeled/in a recognizable container. There are no meal plans available this
Camporee, all attendees will be responsible for bringing and preparing their own food. If you need assistance with camp
recipes or have questions on this, please contact Erin Finken at efinken@girlscoutsnebraska.org

2. Can we bring food and drinks into the cabins?

No open food is allowed in the sleeping spaces. Please bring closable containers that will keep your food secure when
storing it in cabins and tents. You can keep your coolers at your campsite, but please keep them closed to keep out
critters.

3. Do we have to have Camp Out Basic training to attend?

A camp trained volunteer is highly suggested but not required as this is a council event and there will be staff available.

4. Where will the tents be set up at?

Camping will be in a wooded area, campsites are partially separated from each other and each area has trees to block
wind.

5. Who can come to the Camporee?

This event is for registered Girl Scouts only. All adults and girls attending must be registered and adults must be
background screened before attending. No siblings(including infants) are allowed to attend the event.

6. Is there electricity in the cabins?

Yes there is electricity in all the cabins but there is no electricity for the tent camping.

7. Should we bring SWAPS?

Yes! If you aren’t sure what kind to make there are lots of ideas on Pinterest, we will send an email a few weeks out to let
you know how many girls to expect. There will be designated times for SWAPS and we don’t want you to miss out on the
fun!

We hope to see you at our 4th bi-annual Spirit of Nebraska Camporee!
