many functions in the body. It is used to relieve
swelling and pain associated with conditions like
arthritis, severe allergies, eczema, psoriasis, etc.
Uses of Primacort 100 mg Injection
What is it prescribed for?
 Adrenal insufficiency
This medicine is used to treat a condition
where the body is not able to produce
sufficient amounts of steroidal hormones. This
may be caused due to improper functioning of
adrenal glands which secrete these hormones
or the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus
which regulate the hormone release process.
Primacort 100 mg Injection is also used for the
regulation of steroidal hormone levels during
surgeries.
 Swelling and pain
This medicine is used to relieve swelling and
inflammation of joints and soft tissues
associated with arthritis.
 Acute asthma
This medicine is used to manage an acute
episode of asthma.

ANEKET INJECTION 250MG/5ML is a drug that is

mainly used as an anaesthetic drug. It can be
found in powdered or liquid form and especially
used by veterinarians in treatment of animals. It
causes temporary sedation, trance and a relaxed
state of mind and body. It is used in order to
conduct surgical procedures and other
treatments that may cause immense pain and
discomfort. The heart, lungs and other vital
organs remain functioning normally even though
the patient loses consciousness.
Although the exact mechanism by which ANEKET
INJECTION 250MG/5ML exerts its anaesthetic
effect is still under investigation, it is believed to
work by binding to and inhibiting N-methyl D-
aspartate (NMDA) receptors. It is also believed to
bind to opioid receptors, muscarinic receptors,
and monoaminergic receptors. However, unlike
most other oral anaesthetics, it does not bind to
GABA receptors.
This drug should not be used by people who
suffer from glaucoma, have meningitis or a brain
tumour. Let you doctor know if you suffer from
any of the following condition – coronary artery
disease, thyroid problems, high blood pressure,
angina, or alcohol addiction.
The common side effects of using ANEKET
INJECTION 250MG/5ML are generally seen as the
patient comes off the drug and regains
consciousness. These include psychological
reactions like confusion, hallucinations,
drowsiness, agitation, memory loss, nausea,
slurring of speech, dissociation from the body,
dizziness, delirium, and inability to control eye
movements or slow heartbeat.

Rotavirus Vaccine (Live Attenuated, Oral) is a

monovalent vaccine containing suspension
of live rotavirus 116E prepared in Vero
cells. Rotaviruses are double-stranded
RNA virus of the genus Reoviridae.
Rotaviruses are classified in a dual
classification system based on two
proteins on the surface of the virus into G
and P types. Based on this nomenclature,
Rotavirus 116E is classified as ® 5.0 G9P
[11]. Asingle human dose of ROTAVAC is
0.5 mL containing not less than [NLT] 10
FFU [Focus Forming Unit] of live rotavirus
116E
ROTAVAC should be administered as a 3-dose
regimen, 4 weeks apart, beginning at 6
weeks of age. ® ROTAVAC may be co-
administered with other routine childhood
immunizations (i.e., Diphtheria, Tetanus
and Pertussis [DTwP], Hepatitis B vaccine
and Oral Polio Vaccine [OPV]). Based on
recommendations from the World Health
Organization (Rotavirus vaccines WHO
Position Paper, January 2013 in Weekly
Epidemiological Report No.5, 2013, 88, 49-
64), if the routine childhood
immunizations are initiated later than 6
weeks of age and/or at a longer dose
interval than 4-weeks, ® ROTAVAC can still
be co-administered with DTwP. ®
ROTAVAC VIALSHOULD BE FULLYTHAWED
(TILLLIQUID) PRIOR TO ADMINISTRATION.
® It is recommended that infants who
receive ROTAVAC as the first dose should
complete the 3 dose ® ® regimen with
ROTAVAC . There is no data on safety,
immunogenicity or efficacy when
ROTAVAC is administered interchangeably
with other rotavirus vaccines.
PaediatricPopulation All doses of Rotavirus
vaccine should be administered to children
by the age of 8 months (34 weeks)
Diphtheria and Tetanus Toxoids
and Pertussis Vaccine Adsorbed USP (For Pediatric
Use) combines diphtheria and tetanus toxoids
adsorbed with pertussis vaccine,
for intramuscular use, in a sterile
isotonic sodium chloride solution containing
sodium phosphate buffer to control pH. The
vaccine, after shaking, is a turbid liquid, whitish-
gray in color. When used to reconstitute
Haemophilus b Conjugate Vaccine (Tetanus Toxoid
Conjugate), ActHIB ® or OmniHIB, the
combined vaccines appear whitish in color.

Corynebacterium diphtheriae cultures are grown in

a modified Mueller and Miller
medium. 1Clostridium tetani cultures are grown in
a peptone- based medium. Both toxins are
detoxified with formaldehyde. The detoxified
materials are separately purified by serial
ammonium sulfate fractionation and diafiltration.

The pertussis vaccine component is derived

from Bordetella pertussis cultures grown on blood-
free Bordet Gengou media. The pertussis
organisms are harvested and inactivated
with thimerosal and resuspended in
physiological saline and thimerosal.

The toxoids are adsorbed

to aluminum potassium sulfate (alum). The
adsorbed diphtheria and tetanus toxoids are
combined with pertussis vaccine concentrate, and
diluted to a final volume using sterile phosphate-
buffered physiological saline. Each 0.5 mL dose
contains, by assay, not more than 0.17 mg of
aluminum and not more than 100 µg (0.02%)
of residual formaldehyde. Thimerosal (mercury
derivative) 1:10,000 is added as a preservative.

Each 0.5 mL dose is formulated to contain 6.7 Lf of

diphtheria toxoid and 5 Lf of tetanus toxoid (both
toxoids induce at least 2 units of antitoxin per mL
in the guinea pig potency test).

The total human immunizing dose (the first three

0.5 mL doses administered) contains an estimate
of 12 units of pertussis vaccine (4 protective units
per single dose). 2 The potency of the pertussis
component of each lot of DTP (diphtheria and
tetanus toxoids and pertussis vaccine adsorbed
usp)is tested in a mouse protection test.

Revac-B Injection is used for prevention of

Hepatitis B infection.

You (the person getting REVAC-B mcf ® ) will need

3 doses of the vaccine.

BCG vaccine provides immunity or protection

against tuberculosis (TB). The vaccine may be
given to persons at high risk of developing TB. It is
also used to treat bladder tumors or bladder
cancer.
Your doctor or a health care provider will
administer this medicine. When used to protect
against TB, it is injected into the skin. Keep the
vaccination area dry for 24 hours after receiving
the vaccine, and keep the area clean until you
cannot tell the vaccination area from the skin
around it.

When used for bladder cancer, the medicine flows

into your bladder through a tube or catheter.
Avoid drinking fluids for 4 hours before your
treatment. You should empty your bladder before
treatment. During the first hour after the
medication is infused, you will lie on your
stomach, back, and sides for 15 minutes each.
Then you will stand, but you should keep the
medication in your bladder for another hour. If
you cannot keep the medication in your bladder
for the entire 2 hours, tell your health care
provider. At the end of 2 hours you will empty
your bladder in a seated manner for safety
reasons. Your urine should be disinfected for 6
hours after the medication is administered. Pour a
similar amount of undiluted bleach in the toilet
after you urinate. Let it stand for 15 minutes
before flushing.

Various dosing schedules may be used. Your

doctor will schedule your treatment. Ask your
doctor to explain any directions you do not
understand.

When the vaccine is given to protect against TB, it

usually is given only one time but may be repeated
if there is not a good response in 2-3 months.
Response is measured by a TB skin test.

Oxygen therapy can be given for a short or long

period of time in the hospital, another medical
setting, or at home.

In medicine,a nebulizer[1] or nebuliser[2] (see spelli

ng differences) is a drug delivery device used to
administer medication in the form of a mist
inhaled into the lungs. Nebulizers are commonly
used for the treatment of asthma, cystic
fibrosis, COPD and other respiratory diseases or
disorders.

Ventilation mask cover the nose and mouth,

ensuring effective Non Invasive Ventilation
therapy even in case of mouth breathing.
Can be used with intra-arterial and intra-venous
systems. A red stud is placed on the device if used
for arterial purposes (for blood sampling). It
provides 3-way flow (from inlet to outlet, inlet to
side-port or side port to outlet) by use of the
handle on the top of the stopcock to open and
close lines. The device can also be used to reduce
to lines down to one, for drugs/drug infusion
purposes and for the attachment of extension
lines. A blood sample can also be taken via the
injection port.

The oxygen tube is a device used to

deliver supplemental oxygen or increased airflow
to a patient or person in need of respiratory help.
This device consists of a lightweight tube which on
one end splits into two prongs which are placed in
the nostrils and from which a mixture of air and
oxygen flows. The other end of the tube is
connected to an oxygen supply such as a portable
oxygen generator, or a wall connection in a
hospital via a flowmeter. The cannula is generally
attached to the patient by way of the tube
hooking around the patient's ears or by elastic
head band. The earliest, and most widely used
form of adult nasal cannula carries 1–5 litres of
oxygen per minute.
In a micro drip
60 drops = 1 ml.

Microdrip tubing always delivers 60 gtt/mL. It is

used for infusing small or very precise amounts of
fluids. if you only want to give one milliliter of
medicine to a patient, and you use a micro tube
(for infusing) it will take 60 drops before they
receive one milliliter.

Nasogastric tube: A tube that is passed through

the nose and down through the nasopharynx and
esophagus into the stomach. Abbreviated NG
tube. It is a flexible tube made of rubber or plastic,
and it has bidirectional potential. It can be used to
remove the contents of the stomach, including air,
to decompress the stomach, or to remove small
solid objects and fluid, such as poison, from the
stomach. An NG tube can also be used to put
substances into the stomach, and so it may be
used to place nutrients directly into the stomach
when a patient cannot take food or drink by
mouth.
Winged infusion set — also known as “Butterfly or
scalp vein set” is a device primarily used for
venipuncture.
It consists of a hypodermic needle, two bilateral
flexible wings, flexible small bore transparent
tubing (20-35 cm long), a connector (female Leur).
Sizes 8-24G (22 and 23G are most common).
Scalp vein set can be used for multiple procedures
in plastic surgery:

1. Saline infusion and removal from tissue

expander.
2. Penrose type tube drain in wound
margins.
3. Continuous suction drain.
4. Irrigation of wound.
5. Tourniquet for finger, penis.
6. Dye injection in sinus/fistula to delineate
cavity/tract.
7. Soft cover over cut K-wire used after
fracture fixation of digits.
8. For venipuncture.

The most common use of scalp vein set in plastic

surgery is an infusion of saline in tissue expander
[Figure 1]. It can be connected to a syringe to
infuse saline without repetitive punctures to skin
and port. Furthermore, it can be used to evacuate
the fluid from the expander after removal from
the body.

Ryle’s Tube is a Nasogastric feeding Tube

A nasogastric tube is a narrow-bore tube passed

into the stomach via the nose. It is used for short-
or medium-term nutritional support, and also for
aspiration of stomach contents - eg, for
decompression of intestinal obstruction.
The laryngoscope is a medical devices that allows
doctors to examine a patient's larynx, also known
as the voice box. The device helps both with
diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the larynx.
It consists of two parts – the blade and the handle.
The handle contains the battery container, which
acts as an energy source for the light source. The
blades are of two varieties:
Straight blade and curved blade
Straight blade is used to depress the tongue
whereas the curved blade pushes the epiglottis to
one side to visualize the glottis. In infants, the
straight blade is preferred whereas in older
children (more than 8 years), the curved blade is
preferred.

There are various sizes of the laryngoscope

available in different numbers e.g. 0,1,2,3,4. The
numbers increases with the size of the blade.

Care has to be taken while doing laryngoscopy to

prevent injury to the oral structures especially
dislocation and aspiration of the tooth. Maximum
trauma is caused by utilization of upper anterior
teeth or gums as a fulcrum point. Laryngoscopy is
also used to pick up any foreign body in the larynx,
for passing a bronchoscope / esophagoscope and
also for throat packing.

The various parts of the laryngoscope are sterilized

separately. The blade is washed under running tap
water with detergent giving special attention to
cleaning around the light bulb and then
boiled/autoclaved/gas sterilized or chemically
sterilized with alcohol/glutaraldehyde.
A bag valve mask, abbreviated to BVM and
sometimes known by the proprietary name Ambu
bag or generically as a manual resuscitator or
"self-inflating bag", is a hand-held device
commonly used to provide positive pressure
ventilation to patients who are not breathing or
not breathing adequately. The device is a required
part of resuscitation kits for trained professionals
in out-of-hospital settings (such
as ambulance crews) and is also frequently used
in hospitals as part of standard equipment found
on a crash cart, in emergency rooms or other
critical care settings. Underscoring the frequency
and prominence of BVM use in the United States,
the American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines
for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency
Cardiac Care recommend that "all healthcare
providers should be familiar with the use of the
bag-mask device."[1] Manual resuscitators are also
used within the hospital for temporary ventilation
of patients dependent on mechanical
ventilators when the mechanical ventilator needs
to be examined for possible malfunction or when
ventilator-dependent patients are transported
within the hospital. Two principal types of manual
resuscitators exist; one version is self-filling
with air, although additional oxygen (O2) can be
added but is not necessary for the device to
function. The other principal type of manual
resuscitator (flow-inflation) is heavily used in non-
emergency applications in the operating room to
ventilate patients during anesthesia induction and
recovery.
