    Applicability of the installation instructions 1

    This document describes the configuration of the TERMINAL.EXE program for


    Memoskop keyboard emulation, and applies to the SIREMOBIL Compact from serial
    number 01001 to serial number 01416, in conjunction with the Memoskop C-E, item num-
    ber 44 66 322.

    Service PC with either WIN 3.1 or WIN 3.11 operating sys-


    tems, including the program "TERMINAL.EXE"

    delivered with the SIREMOBIL Compact, attached to the
    Memoskop C-E keyboard jack

    Configuration 1

    There is no keyboard for SIREMOBIL Compact with Memoskop C-E.


    However, when replacing the Memoskop C-E or when changing the configuration, a key-
    board is required.
    In these cases, the keyboard must be emulated using the service PC and the program
    TERMINAL.EXE, delivered with the WINDOWS 3.1 / 3.11 software package.
    The adapter mounted on the keyboard jack of the Memoskop C-E must always be used.
    Leave this adapter (part no. 31 00 380) attached to the SIREMOBIL Compact.
    Because the codes for the service PC arrow keys are different than those for the
    Memoskop keyboard, the TERMINAL.EXE function keys must be activated and pro-
    grammed.

    • Turn on the service PC and start WINDOWS.


    • Start the program TERMINAL.EXE.
    • Select the menu "Settings". (German: "Einstellungen")
    • Select the menu "Terminal emulation".
    • Select "DEC VT-100 (ANSI)".
    • Exit the menu with "OK"

    • Select "IBM to ANSI" yes. (mark it with "x")
    • Exit the menu with "OK".

    • Select "Baud Rate" 9600.
    • Select "Data Bits" 8
    • Select "Stop Bits" 1.
    • Select "Parity" none.
    • Select "Flow Control" Xon / Xoff.
    • Select the port used. (Com1 / Com2...)

    • Select the menu "Function Keys" (German: "Funktionstasten")
    • Select "Keys Visible" yes (German: "Tasten anzeigen")
    • Enter the following text in the data fields:
    Key Name: Command: Remarks
    - F1:Cursor UP ALT 149 (see Notice)
    - F2:Cursor DOWN ALT 132 (see Notice)
    - F3:Cursor LEFT ALT 140 (see Notice)
    - F4:Cursor RIGHT ALT 146 (see Notice)
    - F5:HOME ALT 151 (see Notice)
    - F6:NEXT PAT ALT 142 (see Notice)
    - F7:ALL PAT ALT 143 (see Notice)
    - F8:TEXT ALT 148 (see Notice)

    • Exit the window with "OK".

    NOTICE For example: ALT 149 means that you press and hold the (*CTRL+) ALT
    key, and then enter 1, 4, and 9. Then release the (*CTRL+) ALT key. A
    special character will be displayed, which represents the necessary
    code (in this example, for cursor up).
    For SIEMENS NIXDORF service PCs with no separate Num Keys:
    The NUM LOCK key must be active.
    Press and hold the ALT key, then press and hold the FN key, and then
    enter 1 (= J) and 4 (=K) and 9 (=9). Then release all keys.
    For other service PCs, please refer to the service PC user manual and
    the Windows 3.1 / 3.11 user manual.

    Save settings: 1

    • Select the menu "File".


    • Select the menu "Save as" and store the settings to a file.
    The function keys (selectable with the mouse) will be displayed on the bottom side of the
    program TERMINAL.EXE and will emulate the arrow keys and special function keys nec-
    essary for settings on the Memoskop C-E.

    Final Steps 1

    • After using the Memoskop keyboard emulation to program the Memoskop C-E, check
    the function of the Memoskop C-E.
    • BQ-Quick-Test (see the SIREMOBIL Compact log book).
    • Replace all covers.
    • After doing work on the system, perform the protective conductor test according to
    ARTD-002.731.17.
