Sika Top Armatec ® -108


Anti-Corrosive Rebar Coating

Product Cement-based, synthetic modified 2-component coating for corrosion protection.


Description
Uses On Steel for protection from corrosion.
Repair of damage reinforced concrete with corroded reinforcing bars resulting
from Carbonization.
Against the action of Calcium Chlorides and de-icing salts.
Preventive protection of reinforcing bars in slim reinforced concrete sections and
filigree constructions.
Advantages Easy to use.
Excellent adhesion to steel.
Good bonding coat for subsequent cement and epoxy-based repair mortar.

Application Details
Mixing Ratio Comp. (A) : Comp. (B) 1: 4 parts by weight.
1: 3 parts by volume.
Substrate Clean, free from grease and oil, loose concrete and rust particles.
Preparation of reinforcing steel:
Optimal: sand blasting.
Minimum: thorough cleaning with steel brush.
Mixing Only mix as much material as can be safely applied within the pot lifetime. Fill
component (A) (liquid) into a suitable mixing container and add the corresponding
quantity of component (B) (powder). Mix together thoroughly for 3 minutes, small
amounts by hand and larger amounts using a low-speed electric mixer (max. 250
r.p.m.). Mix in as little air as possible.
The mixed material should have a brushable, barely dripping consistency. If
necessary the consistency can be adjusted by adding one of the components and
mixing thoroughly.

Application Apply the first approx. 1 mm thick layer onto the prepared reinforcing steel with a

medium-stiff brush. It is unavoidable that Sika Top Armatec -108 will also be
applied onto the surrounding concrete. The second coat is applied in the same way
after a waiting time of 2 - 3 hours (at 20°C). Subsequent cement-based mortar
repairs can be applied after the same waiting time. The waiting time is approx. 24
hours for synthetic-resin-based mortars. If repairs are to be delayed, the second

layer of Sika Top Armatec -108 to be broadcast with 0.4 - 0.7 mm quartz sand
immediately after application and allowed to harden.
Cleaning Tools and mixing equipment can be cleaned with water, if the material has not
hardened. Hardened material must be removed mechanically.

Pot Life Approx. 30 minutes at 20°C.


Important Notes Minimum application temperature: 5°C.
Apply at least 2 coats of approx. 1mm thickness each.

Precautions If Sika Top Armatec -108 is accidentally splashed into eyes, nose, mouth or throat,
flush affected area with plenty of clean, warm water and seek medical attention.

Toxicity Comp. A + B: Class. 4, under relevant health and safely codes.
