    Case description

    Engine was cranking but it cannot start.

    Symptom
    Name Plate
    Starter motor was working but engine didn't start.
    Fuel pump was abnormal.

    Service Report
    Reason

    Firstly, we checked battery voltage and it was Ok(25 Vdc). We checked the fuel pipe line and
    fuel filter. They are normal. We checked the fuel relay and wire connection. It was Ok. Then,
    we checked the EFC ( Electronic Fuel Control Card) and we adjust the knob (starting fuel). But
    still the problem. Then, we checked the magnetic pickup voltage and actuator voltage. It was
    normal. But, we found the problem Fuel pump actuator didn't work. It was abnormal.

    Action

    We changed the new pump actuator and we tested run the machine without load. It was Ok.
    Job was finished.
    Suggestion

    First of all, the Fuel Control Actuator (FCA) is a kind of solenoid that is directly controlled by
    the engine controller. FCA controls how much fuel amount can be entered the Fuel Injection
    PUMP.

    The FCA can be operated by a small amount of current given by the controller; If there is no
    current in the FCA,it is fully opened and injection pump makes the highest amount of fuel
    pressure in the Rail system. The higher the current, the lesser the fuel flow ( FCA can be
    produced). But it depend upon the type of solenoid ( normally pull or normally push ) type.
