1. Draw diagrams and values of internal effects of actions (M,V) for the load condition in the previous
figure, assuming all the loads have already been modified by the partial coefficients 𝛾 𝑓 . (10 points)
2. Referring to a rectangular reinforced concrete cross-section 30x60 cm (bxh), considering concrete
C40/50 and steel reinforcement B450C, under condition at point 1, design the cross-section for maximum
positive and negative bending moment (15 points);
3. Referring to the same geometry and material properties of point 2.1 and load condition of point 1,
design the cross section for maximum shear in the span A-B (10 points);

6. Assuming a steel beam S235 (fy=235 MPa) section HEB 220 (height=220mm, flange thickness tf
=16mm, web thickness tw = 9,5 mm, web height d= 152 mm, A=91,0 cm², r =18 mm; Wely = 736 cm3;
Wply = 827 cm3) classify and check the cross-section for a maximum bending moment Med=240 Kn-m;

7. Check the cross-section HEB 220 S235 for a shear value of VEd=240 Kn-m; (10points)
8. Check compression and buckling resistance of a column, assuming a steel S275 (fy=275 MPa,
fu =430MPa) section HEA 160 (iy=6,75 cm; iz=3,98cm; A=38,8cm²) and NEd=150Kn. Assume L=8.0 m
and assume, to define the coefficient K, that one support is rotation and translation fixed and the other is
rotation free and translation fixed. (15points)
9. Why is it important to consider durability during the design of concrete structures? Which measures
are taken during design to improve the durability of the concrete structures? (5points)
10. What are the main advantages and disadvantages of welded connections? (5points)
