Materials and Tools


 Yarn: 1 or more colors.
I used Scheepjes Catania original 100% cotton in yellow, milk, pink.
Change of colors are only advices, you can choose your own color patterns.
 Crochet hook in accordance with the yarn you use.
I used hook 2.00 mm.
 Stuffing: I use polyester wool and a chopstick to stuff the doll.
 Tapestry needle, scissors.
 Safety eyes 8.00 mm
 Stitch marker.
I used thin black thread.
 Black embroidery thread for the eyelashes.
 Wooden ring 70mm.
 Elastic lace.

Abbreviations
mr = Magic ring
ch = Chain
st = Stitch
slst = Slip stitch
sc = Single crochet
() = Parentheses are used for repeated patterns of stitches, example: (2 sc, inc) x3 means
repeat 3 times (2 single crochet and one increase).
inc = 2 sc in the same stitch
dec = sc 2 together but working in the front loops only

This pattern is written in US terminology and worked in spiral unless otherwise stated. Sheep’s head is
crocheted as one piece from top to bottom. Other parts are made separately.

HEAD
Use the 2.50 mm hook.
ROUND PATTERN #st
1- 8 crochet chains 8
2- inc on the 2nd ch from the hook, 5 sc, 3 sc on the last chain, 16
turn and work on the other side of the foundation chs, 6 sc

Attach the eyes to the head between rounds 16 and 17 with 10 stitches in-between (fig 4).

● Note: to attach the eyes in the center of the head, skip 11 stitches from the beginning, then
attach the first eye. Skip the next 10 stitches and attach the second eye.

● Note: I used invisible decrease for the next rounds. See the photo tutorial provided on the
last page.

and put here. It will be the new beginning (fig 5).
On next rounds we will make the decreases and it should be nice if they will
lay on each other.

Stuff the head firmly (fig 6, 7).

Crochet 1 sc more, after round 24 to be on the corner.
Cut the yarn leaving the long tail for sewing.

How to finish:
Using the long tail of yarn, start from second loop. Sew the opening through the front loops by
going across each stitches (fig 8, 9, 10).

RUFFLES

Lay your head with the back side facing you. Work on the remaining front loops from round 12
to 2. Insert your hook to last loop of round 12 and pick up the yarn (fig 11). Crochet 3 chains (fig
12) and slip stitch in next loop (fig 13).
Make the combination of (3 ch + slst) in each front loop going from bottom to top (fig 14, 15,
16).

Cut the yarn leaving a long tail.
Fold the ear and sew a few stitches together as shown in the photos (fig 17, 18).

Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.
How to Invisible Fasten off:
Using a needle, insert it in both loops of the second stitch after the last stitch (fig 23). Then,
insert it only in the back loop of the last stitch (fig 24). Secure the yarn and use the remaining
yarn tail for sewing.

- Place the muzzle between eyes and make the oval form. Stuff it and sew the muzzle to
head (fig 21).
- Sew the ears on each side, see photos for placement (fig 22).

- Embroider the eyelashes and nose (fig 23, 24).

STRIP

●Note
The amount of round for the strip may vary depending on the yarn and size ring you use. (I only
needed 10 rounds after the foundation chain when I made my sheep toy).
Round 1: crochet 20 chains.
Round 2-11: 1 starting chain, 20 sc.
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.
Sew the strip to ring how showed on photos (fig 25, 26).

- Sew the ring to head. Do it on front and back sides (fig 27, 28).

COLLAR

●Note
The amount of chains for the collar may vary depending on the yarn and width of sewn head to
ring. (I only needed 25 chains when I made my sheep toy).
Round 1: crochet 25 chains
Round 2: in the second chain from the hook, 20 sc.
Round 3: skip the next st and crochet to the next stitch (3 dc+ ch-3 picot +3 dc), skip the
next st, slst to the next st. (fig 38, 39)
- You should have 6 shell stitches.

FLOWER:

In magic ring: (3 ch, 5-dc popcorn, 3 ch, 1 slst) x5

BOW
Round 1: crochet 10 chains.
Rounds 2-7-: ch 1, turn, 10 sc across.

Edging:
Turn your work, bring the yarn around the loop (from left to right). Now the yarn lays in front of
the loop (fig 37). Insert your hook in a stitch and make a sc. You will have to repeat the process
in every stitch around the bow. Make 2 sc in every corner (fig 38, 39).
Make a lace of 70 chains. Use this lace to tie the center of the bow and onto the neck of the
giraffe (fig 40, 41).

If you would like, you can attach safety eyes between rounds 13 and 14 with 6 stitches in-

Close the gap in the same way as the first sheep.

RUFFLES

Lay your head with the back side facing you. Work on the remaining front loops from round 10
to 2. Insert your hook to last loop of round 10 and pick up the yarn (fig 3). Crochet 3 chains and
slip stitch in next loop.
Make the combination of (3 ch + slst) in each front loop going from bottom to top (fig 4, 5).

How to make invisible decrease:

Insert your hook in the front loops (a) and then (b) (fig 1), go in the front loop (a) and in (b) (fig 2, 3).
Yarn over and pull through the front loops (a) and (b) (fig 4). Yarn over and pull through the 2 remaining
loops (fig 5).
