Week 6: Writing up your CV Cover Letter 10%

Format for Submission

Please use this format for your final draft.


Use a new page for each section.
Include the word count at the bottom of each section (250 words per section)
1. CV
2. Cover Letter
3. Report
4. References (no word count needed)
5. Appendix: Job advertisement (no word count needed)

Cover Page:
Your HAN and Title of the Assignment

Part 1: C.V.
 Word count 250 words
 You can use your real name for this assessment task.
 Font size: for titles and sub-titles, you can use different size of “12”.
 Dot points and don’t write generic skills, give examples.
 Re-read the criteria so you don’t miss key points, e.g., a referee, digital skills
 Try to keep it to one page
 If you use a photo, it must be high resolution, appropriate for a business internship and
appealing. Smile please.
 Match your skills and experiences to the job
 You may use your name for your cover letter
 Must be the same template as your CV
 No more than 250 words.
 Try to find the name of the HR person you are applying to

Part 2: Cover Letter
First paragraph about where you found the job and why you want it:
o build your skills and knowledge,
o want a job in this industry etc.

The second paragraph is about the company and how they are a place you’d like
to work in:
o they have a professional approach to interns,
o a good internship program,
o a solid corporate model,
o leaders in their field etc.
The third paragraph is to reinforce why they need YOU, so sell your skills and experience with
an example or two.

Conclude with a Call to Action

Part 3: Report
Word count 250 words

With the CV and application, you must attach a written statement that answers to the
following (250 words).:
1. How did you search for a job (LinkedIn/Glassdoor/ Facebook etc.)
2. What filters did you apply? (internships/Hanoi etc.)
3. What research did you carry out in drafting your application?

4. What do you think you would learn from this internship if you got it?

5. How would you make yourself stand out from other interns?

Part 4: References
You MUST use the Harvard style: see your assessment brief
Aim for at least 3-5 references
You should include any external sources such as:
LinkedIn advice
Novoresume
Your textbook

Part 5: Appendix
This is where you add your job advertisement. If it’s written in Vietnamese, translate it into
English
You can also include your certificates of merit, awards, and or documentation to prove you
passed language tests, etc.
No advertisement, no mark

INTERNSHIP ADVERTISEMENT
 Can be copied from the internet – WORD COUNT and PLAGIARISM is not going to
be considered for this advertisement.

 It will be attached as an appendix item on the last page of your submission. If you
choose a job written in Vietnamese, then you must also provide an English
translation

 Include the full advertisement that relates to the job.

 Remember, you can use the information in the advertisement for the report
section, but cite it accurately, and include it in your references.

 It must be an internship that you really would apply for as discussed in class

 It must be appropriate to your level of expertise, experience and first year student

 You will lose marks if the job is not applicable to a first-year student as an
internship/job in an appropriate industry

As an intern, you will help us track and manage our relationships with our internal and external stakeholders. This will be done in collaboration

These tasks will include, but will not be limited to:

 Conduct detailed reporting and deep-dive analysis to derive actionable business insights
 Set up internal reporting and processes to drive automation and more efficiency
 Capture, track, and advance qualified engagements in our CRM lead management system (Salesforce)
 Organize and participate in events

Basic Qualifications

 Penultimate year student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in finance, business, marketing, technology, or relevant field of study.
 Graduating after Dec-2023
 Able to commit to a full-time internship for a minimum of 3-months and up to 6-months in 2023
 Candidates must be able to legally work in Vietnam
 Passion for technology startups
 Advanced Excel user (practical knowledge of VBA/macros and advanced Excel functions)
 Proficient in data analysis
 Proficient in Powerpoint
 Self-motivated to work proactively on tasks
 Great team player to work with others as a team
 Excellent communications and interpersonal skills

 Strong written and verbal communication skills in Vietnamese and English

Preferred Qualifications

 Analysis background
 Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing stakeholder requests
 Highly driven and demonstrated ability to implement and deliver against aggressive targets
 A team player who is also able to work independently
 Salesforce CRM, Excel Power Pivot and SQL skills are a plus
