Internal Finishes
Internal Finishes
The measurement of finishes are divided into the following
elements:
1. Floor finishes and screeds
2. Wall finishes (including attached beams with the same
finishes
3. Ceiling finishes (including attached beams with the same
finishes
Internal Finishes
NRM have many sections involve in the measurement of finishes
as follows:
18 Tile and slate roof and wall coverings
19 Waterproofing
21 Cladding and Covering
22 General joinery
28 Floor, wall, ceiling and roof finishings
29 Decoration
30 Suspended ceilings
Internal Finishes
Drawings that must accompany
1. Plans of each floor
2. Sections through building
3. External Elevations
4. Finishes schedules
5. All floor to floor or ceiling heights
6. Layout of patterned work
7. Details of molded work
Internal Finishes
Mandatory information to be provided:
1. kind, quality
2. Number of coats of in-situ work
3. Types of underlays or linings
4. Bedding or other method of fixing
5. Type of pointing
6. Laps
7. Layout and width of joints and bays
8. Patterns
9. Spacing of battens and counter battens
10.Composition and mix of mortars
11.Bonding to other work
12.Radius of curved work
Internal Finishes
Mandatory information to be provided:
13. Nature of base
14. Laid in one operation with base
15 Applied finishes / sealer/ polishes
5000mm
3000mm
Internal Finishes
Skirting (baseboard) are
measured with the internal
finishes, its length relates to the
walls

Waterproofing
These sections are applicable for waterproofing to bathroom and
kitchen floors and the like. The waterproofing is applied to the
concrete floor slab or to the topping in multi storey buildings so
that if water floods the floor it will not penetrate to the rooms on
the floor below.
Asphalt waterproofing
Internal Finishes
Ceiling finishes
Area taken from wall to wall using
the figured structural dimensions
which are usually best taken over
the beams and the adjustments
made later.
Suspended ceilings are measured
as composite items of framework
and panels
Cornices, bulkheads and light
coves is usually straightforward
which normally runs all around the
room.
Internal Finishes
Wall finishes
Perimeter of the room is best
taken in the waste
calculations having the same
height and finish.
Deductions for opening will be
taken later.
Plaster is an in-situ finish to
receive paint or wallpaper
Render is cement and sand to
receive tiles or sheet finishes
