Norrlandsoperans Symfoniorkester is seeking to appoint
2:e Concertmaster
The position is permanent with a 1-year trial period. Employment will commence after
personal agreement. Non-EU citizens require a work and residence permit (not required
when you apply for the audition).
Service:
The position entails roughly 140-160 podium days plus personal artistic preparation time, jury
work (including auditions and meetings) and program committee meetings (admin days).
The position is widely diverse, including symphonic, opera and chamber music repertoire. A
typical season can include between 12 - 17 Orchestra Productions and
2 - 3 Opera productions.
Service in a higher position is regulated according to agreement with the national Musician’s
Union in Sweden (SYMF).
Amount of podium days: according to scheduling for musicians at Norrlandsoperan.
AD-days: admin days according to scheduling.
KFT-days: Personal artistic preparation time according to scheduling.
Salary plan: Group 1 (see agreement with Musician’s Union in Sweden, SYMF).

24th February 2023 – Norrlandsoperan, by personal invitation.
Norrlandsoperan Concert Hall, address: Operaplan 5, 901 08, Umeå.
16th December 2022 – Last day to apply.

INFORMATION ABOUT NORRLANDSOPERAN

Norrlandsoperan is the world’s northernmost opera house yet only one hours’ flight from
Stockholm. The four stages in the house offer a range of concerts, opera, dance, theatre and
festivals and I one of the most modern opera houses in Europe, arranging hundreds of
different events a year. As a member of Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra you will work
in a creative environment where 47 full time employed musicians play an important role and
form the core of Norrlandsoperan’s artistic development and drive. Symphonic concerts,
opera and chamber music drive your hunger and enthusiasm as a musician at
Norrlandsoperan. The orchestra also tours regularly in the north of Sweden. Norrlandsoperan
Symphony Orchestra appears live on radio and regularly makes radio and CD recordings.

Norrlandsoperan’s mission is to produce, promote, strengthen, and develop symphonic
repertoire, opera, musical theater, music, dance, performance, and arts in the region.
Norrlandsoperan was founded in 1974, during the years we have developed from a regional
chamber ensemble to a performing arts house with a regional mission and extremely broad
operational base. The new opera hall and concert hall was inaugurated in the spring of 2002
and within our house we also have Elektra - bistro, bar, and dining.
