Energy sources - Part 2

Key points:
- What is solar power;
- How does solar power work;
- What is wind power;
- And how does wind power
work;
- What is hydroelectric power;
- And how does it work.
Solar energy:
- Solar energy is the conversion of the Sun‫י‬s
energy into eletrical electricity;
- This method is ideal in hot cloudless conditions,
but less effective in areas that have a lot of
cloudy days or are located in high altitudes;
- Locations at milattidudes are more suitable;
- What is the main problem of solar energy?
- Effect of solar panels and solar stations on the
surounding and biodiversity?
- Can we plant solar stations anywhere?
- Serbia‫י‬s potential in solar energy?
- Floating Solar Panels

Wind Power
- The usage of wind energy is becoming more and
more common;
- The wind turbines are large turbine blades that
generate energy;
- The turbines need to be located in areas that
has very strong wind;
- This method in inconsistent ➡ only generates
energy when it is windy;
- It is very expensive to build a wind farm;
- The impact on the environment;
- Positive and negative side?
- Serbias potential and best locations?
- An Example of good practice?
Tidal energy:
- uses the rise and fall of tides to convert
incoming and outcomig tides into electrical
energy;
- Barages have to be built across coasts;
- This can be very expensive;
- Damaging to the environment;
- Blocking the ships and trade;
- Location where these plants could be built are
limited.
Hydroelectric power:
- Uses fast-flowing water to turn generators to
produce electricity;
- A reliable supply of fast-flowing water is
needed;
- This may be near a waterfall;
- The dams are expensive to build and can lead to
the flooding of farmland;
- They re is limited choice of locations with
necessary requirements;
- This method produces a very little pollution;
