The part must be in perfect condition after the tests. The appearance and tactile properties of the
parts must comply with the Component Performance Specification and Volkswagen Quality stand-
ard.
All general testing requirements form the basis for the functional requirements, and will not be lis-
ted individually hereinafter.
Out of all tests, Volkswagen will be responsible for the road tests and durability road tests, as well
as for checking the function target specifications.
The supplier is responsible for performing all other tests defined in the Performance Specification
and test catalogs.

5 General test conditions
5.1 Setup
The setup uses the original body part (windshield crossmember ASSY, tailgate ASSY, see figure 1
and figure 2) or SAE test fixture (see figure 3) in the as-installed position with:
– Original fasteners
– Window glass and covers

This test serves to monitor and evaluate corrosion properties or corrosion protection solutions for
these parts when exposed to static load. This test simulates the component load, e.g., in salty air
or water containing de-icing salt, that can occur under wintry road conditions.

Evaluation:
After the cycle test and during the pause phase (once per week), the frictional torque in
the wiper pivot ASSYs must be measured and documented.
WAB/RAB – 60-cycle corrosion cycle test as per PV 1210 with scribed line as per DIN EN ISO 17872
ASSYs and DIN EN ISO 4628-8
The test must be performed in agreement with the purchaser, with or without bolted-on
wiper shafts (only applies to WAB).
Requirements:
– After 30 cycles:
– No blisters, no base metal corrosion
– Loss of adhesion D ≤ 2,5 mm
– After 60 cycles:
– No malfunctions
– Contact force measurement (10x lifting, then measuring)
Contact force must decrease by no more than 10% of the original contact force

6.2 Component function check
Purpose
The forced-air aging is carried out to condition the DUT before the start of the tests.

Run-in serves to reduce the internal frictions and distribute lubricants.

Test temperature TRT
Procedure Measurement is taken in rotating operation with the motor cold and at operating temperature
(after 1 h of run-in). All functions protecting against overload must be deactivated (energy
model, temperature model, adaptive motor torque, etc.).
For reversing motors, the contractor must provide a control box to implement the rotating op-
eration.
The characteristic curves for rotational speed and current as a function of torque are recor-
ded from idle speed up to 5 rpm within 10 s in each wiping frequency setting 1 and 2. At least
one data point per second must be determined.

bed circle diameters).

6.2.3.8 Wiper arm contact force measurement
Purpose
This measurement serves to check the drawing specifications.
Test description
The wiper arm must be set up on the test fixture as per the drawing specification (contact force
measuring point = contact point). Measurement of the dropping contact force (including weight of
wiper arm) in the wiper blade pivot (see figure 9 and figure 10). This measurement is taken after
