1. Be prepared with reasons to be back to your Home Country like family ties and other
relationships, future career prospects, investments, and property.
2. Conduct English Language Practice, especially with a native.
3. Speak for yourself, not your family if in a group interview.
4. Know the course/program that you study and make sure you can relate that to your future
career back in the home country.
5. Be impressive in the first two minutes and be concise/brief.
6. You have 2 to 3 minutes of time and written lengthy documents cannot be evaluated in the
time frame of this. So concentrate on your verbal interview during the time you appear in the
Embassy.
7. If your Country is facing problems like that of the economy or immigrants from your
Country in the USA, you will be asked questions regarding your future goals in your
Country.
8. Your spouse cannot work under a dependent visa except in some exceptional cases like part-
time in School or voluntary work. Make sure you be apparent of what the dependent will be
doing in the USA if any (F2 program).
9. If your Children or Spouse will stay back, make sure you are able to show an income source
that you can sustain them here and that you do not have to send or remit any money from
America. If the Counsellor senses that you will have to remit money, your visa shall be
denied. If they will join in the future, make sure they apply for the same post.
10. Maintain a positive attitude. Make sure you do not spoil your interview and get unlucky due
to anxiety while your documents are good or any way. Just breathe!
11. Make sure you fill in the DS -160 forum with the right information, any discrepancy during
made lead to visa refusal.
12. Make a passport ready that exceeds 6 months beyond your date of stay has to be presented
during the interview.
13. Make ready one photograph taken 6 months before the interview. 2”/2”. (5 cm x 5 cm) has to
be presented.
14. Be ready with a valid I 20 from the University.
15. Make ready Educational Transcripts.
16. A $160 fee payment receipt has to be presented.
17. An interview appointment letter has to be presented.
18. Students have to pay an additional fee if visa is granted ($160) on the spot or later.

History and other documents like passport numbers and address. Print DS 160 forum after
filling.

5. Appointments can be taken on your own or from a Consultant. The website is
www.ceac.state.gov.
6. $185 for payment and get the receipt from the Bank and the Appointment Confirmation
Page too from the very Bank.
