SUGGESTED INSTALLATION TIME: 1.0 HOURS

Total installation time may vary depending on vehicle options and equipment.

The instructions below are developed for BMW vehicles and are not to be compared to any other existing
instructions for vehicles other than BMW. No methods other than those specified in this document are to be
used for installation in BMW vehicles. Left and right are determined from the driver’s seat.

Carefully read all instructions and supplements before proceeding with the installation. Reference should be
made to TIS for instructions dealing with a stock part of the vehicle but not stated in detail in these instructions.

The instructions were complete and up to date at time of publication; however, changes to the vehicle or
installation may have occurred. Please report any problems or changes noted with the installation to BMW
Technical Hotline, along with VIN, date of manufacture and as much detail as possible.

Preparation
Disconnect vehicle battery

Remove the following components as per


TIS:

• Instrument Cluster
• Instrument Cluster Trim
• Driver side lower dash panel

Procedure
1. Route wires (1) from cradle (2) through hole
in the mounting bracket (3)
2. Snap mounting cradle (2) onto the ball of the
mounting bracket (3).

3. Route wires (1) in the cut-out portion of the


mounting bracket (3). Slide cover (2) onto
mounting bracket (3).

4. With the instrument cluster, and trim


removed, position mounting bracket (1) flush
to the edge of the dash cutout (2). Drill
mounting holes (3) using a 3mm drill bit.
Secure mounting bracket with supplied
Phillips head screws (4).

5. Insert power wires (1) from cradle, into
supplied two pin connector (2), as follows:

Pin 1 - Red Wire


Pin 2 - Black Wire

6. Connect the two pin connector (1) to the


matching end of the navi wiring harness (2).

7. Secure power converter box (1) behind dash


with cable ties (2). Route wire harness (3) to
CAS control module in lower dash area.

8. Remove plug X13376 from CAS module.


9. Remove lock housing from connector.
10. Identify pin locations 8 (KL-R) and Pin 25
(KL 31) of connector X13376
11. Use miniature connectors (1) to connect the
power and ground wires (2) of the navi
harness to the wires of the factory harness
leading to connector X13376 as follows:

• Black wire of navi Æ wire of Pin 25


• Red wire of navi Æ wire of Pin 8

12. On the instrument cluster trim (1) remove
45mm (4.50cm) from the shaded area (2) to
allow clearance for the mounting bracket.

There is no retrofit coding required for this installation.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
Issue Solution
nuvi unit does not power OFF when vehicle • Check portable navi wiring harness
ignition is OFF. connections to CAS connector
X13376 wires. Ensure that correct
wires from Pin 8 and Pin 25 of
connector X13376 are being used.
(see Step 11)
• nuvi unit can be quickly powered
OFF by:
- Removing nuvi from mount.
- Pressing Power button on nuvi
