    AN ORDER REORGANIZING THE BARANGAY NUTRITION COUNCIL

    WHEREAS, p u r s u a n t t o S e c t i o n 2 o f P r e s i d e n t i a l D e c r e e N o . 4 9 1 a s
    a m e n d e d , declared that “nutrition is now a priority of the government to be
    implemented by all branches of the government in an integrated manner”;

    WHEREAS, DILG MC. No. 89-47


    mandates the Organization/Reorganization of Barangay Nutrition Committee;

    WHEREAS, t o s u p p o r t t h e c a l l o f b e t t e r h e a l t h a n d n u t r i t i o n i n t
    h e b a r a n g a y especially among children, it is imperative to organize the Barangay
    Nutrition Council to address and mitigate the nutritional concerns of the barangay.

    NOW, THEREFORE, I, ________________________,


    P u n o n g B a r a n g a y o f Barangay _____________, ___________, by virtue of
    the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order the reorganization of the Barangay
    Nutrition Council.

    Section 1. Composition.
    The Barangay Nutrition Council shall be composed of the following:
    Chairperson: __________________ Punong Barangay
    Member: __________________ SB Member, Chair on Health& Sanitation
    __________________ Rural Health Midwife
    _______________ Barangay Nutrition Scholar
    _________________ Barangay Day Care Worker
    ___________________ Barangay Health Worker
    ________________________ Public School Principal
    ________________________PTCA Representative
    ________________________ CSO Representative

    Section 2. Duties and Functions.

    The BNC shall have the following functions:

    Organize the barangay network;


    Prepare a spot map of the barangay;
    Formulate a barangay nutrition action plan (BNAP) and translate into action
    programs;

     Coordinate the nutrition activities of the barangay;


    Conduct Operation Timbang (OPT) under the supervision of the rural health
    unit;
    Organize specific groups to implement the nutrition intervention activities and assess
    progress;
    M o n i t o r a n d e v a l u a t e t h e i m p l e m e n
    t a t i o n o f n u t r i t i o n activities/projects/program in the
    barangay; and
    Hold regular quarterly meetings to monitor program performance.

    Section 3. Funding Support.


    Funding support for the Barangay Nutrition Council (BNC) shall be charged
    against the fund of the Barangay Government subject to availability of funds and
    to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

    Section 4. Effectivity.
    This order takes effect immediately. Let copies of this Executive Order be furnished to
    all concerned for their information, reference and guidance.
