One of the main causes of global warming is the widespread use of fossil
fuels (coal, oil, natural gas). Activities in sectors such as industrial
processes, energy production, transportation and agriculture cause large
amounts of greenhouse gas emissions. Especially carbon dioxide (CO2),
methane (CH4) and nitrogen oxides (Nox) are released into the
atmosphere, increasing the greenhouse effect. These gases trap heat from
the sun in the atmosphere and cause the earth’s surface to warm.
