What is it ?
In SAP, an asset refers to a tangible or intangible resource holding value to the company. Assets are
tracked within the Asset Accounting module (FI-AA) for their entire lifecycle, from acquisition to
disposal.
Asset Master Data: Creation and maintenance of detailed information about each asset, including
description, acquisition date, location, and depreciation details.
Acquisition: Recording how assets are acquired, whether through purchase, self-construction, or
other methods.
Reporting: Asset Accounting integrates with General Ledger Accounting, providing a holistic view of
the company's assets and their financial impact in reports.
Overall, SAP Asset Accounting helps businesses manage and optimize their fixed assets, ensuring
accurate financial reporting and informed decision-making.
Fixed Assets
These are long term tangible assets such as buildings, machinery, vehicles and equipments.
Asset Classes
Assets are grouped into asset classes, which categorize assets with similar characteristic and
accounting requirement.
Depreciation
The process of allocating the cost of a tangible asset over its useful life.
