Welding
a. Machine set up
1. Check if the machine is located on a horizontal plane for this specific reason the machine is
supplied complete of a wooden base in order to help and speed up the operation.
The machine can also be fixed to a work bench by means of unscrewing the bolts and after
released the wooden base, fixing to the work bench.
2. Connect the mirror to the power supply
3. By acting on the thermostat located on the side part of the heating mirror , set up the
temperature need for the welding.
The most common values are the following:
HDPE 210 °C +/- 10
PP 200 °C +/- 10
PVDF 240 °C +/- 10
The above values are also depending on pipe's wall thickness , therefore for accurate
temperature setting up we suggest to check the enclosed graphic.
Important !!!
The heating mirror 's temperature during the working operations is always above 200 °C,
therefore keep attention and utilise if possible protective gloves in order to avoid burns.
Before proceeding to the first welding wait until the lights has been switched on and off
three times, this allows the stabilisation of the temperature on the heating mirror surface.

4. Take from the tools box the reductions needed and fixed them by using the proper screw
into the main clamp and the derivation clamp . (the diameter is engraved into
the reductions)
5. Insert the pipes to be welded into the clamps , taking care to leave enough space for
the facing inserting.
6. Start with the facing operation

b. Facing operation
1. Insert the electric facing tool between the two parallel slide bars taking care of insert also
the slip-clutch (pos. B Fig. 3)
2. Adjust sideways the facing tool by means of releasing and fixing again the lever(pos. A Fig.
3)
3. Plug in and start the facing tool and start the drill engine
4. By means of the hand wheel approach the pipe ends to the facing tool reaching a value
that will not overload the engine
5. When the shavings become regular, remove the planed pipe ends and only at this time
shut off the facing tool drill.
6. Declutch the facing tool and approach once again the pipe ends in order to check the
alignment. If necessary adjust sideways by means of releasing and fixing again the lever
(pos. C Fig. 4).
Fig 3 Fig. 4
c. Welding
1. Insert the heating mirror between the two pipe ends , taking care that the thermostat has
been set up to the correct welding temperature and the surfaces of the heating mirror is
the one set up
2. Approach the two pipe ends towards the heating mirror by means of acting on the hand
wheel and applying the correct welding pressure as per attached Welding Tables.
Wait for the bead formation afterwards reduce the pressure keeping in touch the two pipe
ends on the mirror.
3. Elapsed the heating time , take away the two pipe ends from the mirror by means of acting
quickly the hand wheel in order to open the trolley, remove the heating mirror and by
means of acting quickly the hand wheel in order to close the trolley applying the correct
welding pressure as per the welding table .
The value of the pressure can be read on the pressure index and while achieved such
value
Block the trolleys by means of leaving the hand wheel.
4. Elapsed the cooling time , release the hand wheel reduce to zero the pressure.
5. Take away the welded piece
7
I.T.S. Ital Trade Services PL 125 C Operating Manual
6. Check the welding
7. Important ! never try to cool down the welding and in case of strong wind operate in one
reaper area
Important !!!
In case of rain or ambient temperature less than -5 °C or higher than 40 °C , the welding
operation cannot be done , these weather condition affect the good result of the welding.
Welding Cycle
The welding cycle is divided in 5 + 1 different phases :
PHASE 1 : Bead Formation t1
PHASE 2 : Heating up t1
PHASE 3 : Change over t3
PHASE 4 : Bringing up pressure t4
PHASE 5 : Cooling Down under pressure t5
PHASE 6 : Cooling Down out of the machine t6
The following graphic shows all the phases:
t1 = Time requested for the bead formation with the specified wall thickness
t2 = Time requested for the continual heating
t3 = Time requested for the change over
t4 = Time requested for bringing up the pressure
t5 = Time requested for cooling down
P2 = Pressure during the continual heating
P1 = Pressure during the bead formation and the cooling down

As far as concern the end float, vertically there's not any regulation to be done due to the fact
that there will be maximum a difference of 0,1-0,2 mm. Sideways by means of adjusting the
cross slide the two pipe ends should be aligned and the pipe should be centred with the
facing tool also adjustable sideways.
The pipe segments must be previously cut by hand saw and after positioning and clamping
into the machine proceed to the facing operation and other operation and other operations
as described before.
In general it's possible to obtain the following bends:
A. Long radius bends ( 5° inclination and many welds)
B. 45° bends (11° 15' inclination and 2 welds with 3 segments)
C. 60° bends (15° inclination and 2 welds with 3 segments)
D. 90° bends (15° inclination and 3 welds with 4 segments)

Maintenance
Basic Machine
Keep always clean the machine after using with special care of the slide bars.
Facing Tool
Keep always clean the blades and weekly clean and lubricate the pulleys
Heating element
Clean the PTFE coated surface of the heating element avoiding use of abrasive materials .
Keep the maximum attention to not damages the PTFE coating and always remember to wear
gloves while handling

The following metal plates are on the machine body , the first metal plate is a table resuming
all the pressure welding values to be apply according to the DR and the diameter of the pipe
to be welded, On the first column are indicated the DR values and on the last line the pipe’s
diameters. The second metal plate is pressure index, indicating the correct strength applied on
the clamps
