MSMES (MICRO, SMALL, MEDIUM ENTERPRISES)
Step 1: Choose an MSME for Analysis: Select a specific
MSME from one of the classifications: Micro, Small, or
Objective: To guide students in Medium Enterprise. Ensure that the chosen enterprise
performing a SWOT analysis on a chosen is willing to participate in the interview and provide
MSME (Micro, Small, or Medium necessary information for the SWOT analysis.

Step 1: We have chosen a franchise restaurant


chain, Crispy King, with over 300 branches
throughout the Philippines. The store highly
recommends having 4 to 6 employees (1 reliever)
which we classified as Micro Enterprise (per
branch).
Step 2: Introduction to SWOT Analysis
SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. It is a strategic planning tool used to identify and analyze internal and
external factors that can impact the success of a business.

Step 3: Develop Interview Questions (You can add from the sample questions below)
Create a set of interview questions that address each aspect of the SWOT analysis:

What resources and capabilities contribute to your success?

One of the key advantages of Crispy King is its focus on providing affordable and delicious crispy
fried chicken to the masses, positioning itself as a budget-friendly and satisfying dining option.
Crispy King is a fast-food business, specializing in fried chicken.
The brand emphasizes the comforts of dining in and aims to deliver the best quality fried chicken at
an accessible price. Additionally, Crispy King's commitment to innovation in marketing and
management allows them to continuously improve their understanding of customer needs and
expectations.
In terms of its resources and capabilities, Crispy King operates more than 300 stores nationwide,
making it one of the prominent players in the fast-food industry. Their extensive reach and broad
customer base contribute significantly to their success.
What challenges do you currently face in your business?

WEAKNESSES Are there any internal factors that hinder your growth or success?
Are there areas where your business lags behind competitors?

The Crispy King fast-food chain restaurant is confronted with certain challenges in
maintaining its current level of performance. These challenges include maintaining a
consistent level of food quality, ensuring customer satisfaction, adhering to food safety
standards, and managing food preparation processes.
Furthermore, internal factors could hinder the growth and success of Crispy King. For
instance, the chain may struggle with maintaining brand image and customer loyalty, issues
related to quality and authenticity of food offerings, and the impact of food values on
behavioral loyalty.
In comparison to competitors, Crispy King lags behind in areas such as maintaining good
publicity, addressing health issues associated with fast food, coping with economic
fluctuations, and dealing with food safety concerns.

segment2 offers an opportunity for Crispy King to expand its product line to incorporate
innovative and functional beverages targeted at health-conscious consumers. The rising
popularity of plant-based foods presents an untapped market for the incorporation of plant-
based alternatives or plant-based snack items into Crispy King's menu. Additionally, the report
highlights the demand for functional health products, suggesting that Crispy King could introduce
items with specific functional ingredients that cater to consumers' health and wellness needs.
Changes in the economic and regulatory environment potentially impact Crispy King's business
operations by influencing consumer spending patterns, affecting sales and profitability5 .
