What is your inquiry question that interests you for further research? It should be a question that
connects with a purpose, passion or personalized area of interest for you. This is a question that
you cannot just google an answer for. Please see examples from your Capstone booklet.
Rationale/context: Detail your reasons for choosing this inquiry question. Explain WHY you are
choosing to investigate this topic as a major area of focus. How does this area of inquiry
connect to your passion(s), purpose? Why is it of personal interest to you?
During my early high school experience attending Semiahmoo secondary in surrey as well as
having friends all across Surrey made it seem like that ultimate frisbee was a popular sport in
BC as there’s surrey club programs such as the vortex program and all surrey schools are very
invested in their ultimate program. So, from my personal experience up until grade 11 when i
moved to Langley i thought all parts of BC was invested into ultimate frisbee just as much as
surrey was. I was proved wrong when i got a sense of how eastern valley schools ran their
ultimate programs as there’s less effort put into these programs. I’m choosing to dive into this
because I believe all parts of BC such as the eastern valley and northern BC could/should have
just as much of a ultimate community as both south and north Fraser. Being from surrey and
being lucky enough to have the opportunity to play for the surrey vortex program, i have been
very invested in each and every ultimate community I have been a part of, and each of them
have just been as enjoyable as another. Which is why I’m choosing to try and raise awareness
of the sport for more people to be more encouraged and have the chance to be a part of an
ultimate community of their own.
Career connections: What is your intended career area at this point in time? What
connections does this inquiry question have to your life, academic and/ or career goals?
My desired career area is in health science specifically to become a Physiotherapist or
Registered massage therapist. There’s a lot of vigorous physical activity when it comes to
ultimate as it’s very cardio heavy. When it comes to injuries from ultimate, I have firsthand
experience as I’ve had back and shoulder pain while playing. When I do garner additional
knowledge of the human body, I will be able to connect to why I had those injuries. When I am a
PT or RMT and I have recurring injuries to my back I’ll have the knowledge of properly treating
my back.

Description of my Capstone project. Specific Project Details of the Capstone Project: what
will you research, create, study, produce, solve, investigate? What product will be produced
at the end of this project for evaluation. Write a one-page description outlining your
proposal.
In regards of the research being done for my capstone, I’m looking for the most important take
aways that come from how-to videos so I can combine my own experience from what I’ve been
taught and what works for me to make an affective video that can be useful to both beginners
and those who are looking to develop their game further.
For now, the videos I certainly want to create are guides on how to throw the basic throws which
are the forehand and backhand throws and how to fix common mistakes beginners make. I
really highlighted what I did personally to overcome such challenges I faced while learning how
to throw a forehand and backhand. In both the videos I also was able to show how both throws
are not as simple as just throwing it straight. In the backhand video I mentioned how the pivot
can be used to throw around a defender when used correctly, while in the flick video I was able
to show three different ways on how a flick in addition to the pivot can be thrown in a different
but just as effective way. Since I was familiar with being a beginner, I was able to show the
common mistakes beginners make when throwing each throw and how to make the correct
adjustments to better their technique for the correct throw.
By the end of it I was able to create two long form videos regarding the flick and the
backhand throw which provide enough detail which can be helpful to all skill levels but are
short and simplified enough to where beginners can easily follow along, creating a good
mixture for all levels.
For video creation I will use capcut for my editing software because it’s the editing app Im the
most comfortable with and have experience using. I have various technology I could use to edit
my videos whether that would be from my ipad, my computer, or my phone.
I have connections to a ton of high level players and coaches that I can reach out to for my
interviews and in terms of making highlight reels for certain players I can go to their games and
scrimmages in order to get film.
Project limitations: What are some project limitations and potential obstacles that you foresee
that might affect progress with your Capstone Project?
I think I’ll have troubles in having good quality visuals for my videos as I plan to record on my
phone with tripod stand. Also I have trouble presenting infront of people, which is a personal
obstacle I have to endure when publsihing these videos.
Other considerations: List and detail any other related information/ considerations about
your project that you feel should be included in your project proposal.
