1. ABOUT YOU
Hi, would like to give a brief introduction of myself. My name is Kata Kovács most of the
people I'm friends with refer to me as either Katus or Kata, although there are a few who call
me Kati which I find unpleasant since it isn't my actual name. I am from Hungary and I live in
Kunhegyes but I reside in a dormitory in Szolnok. I'll be 18 in March and I'm 17 now. In
2006, I was born in Szolnok. When I graduated from primary school in my hometown, I went
to Szolnok for my Secondary School in Kero. Here i began my studies as a trade and web
store technician. As far as my appearance is concerned, I am 1.60 meters, shorter than the
average height. I have long brown hair that I usually wear down. Talking of my face, its
square. I’ve got thin lips and small ears. My eyelashes are small and my eyebrows is very
light. I think i am a friendly person. I have got a lot of friends, but I can sometimes
accidentally offend they. Frequently i am outspoken person I am generally satisfied with
myself. I wouldn’t change a single thing about me. I believe that we should accept ourselves
as we are. As I’ve mentioned before I get on well with people. In general, I'm always in a
hurry and leave things behind. Organizing isn't my strong suit. In spite of this, I try to keep a
positive attitude.

2. FAMILY
In Hungary, a standard family typically includes a mother, a father, and two children. So, I
can describe my family as a typical Hungarian family. My family means a lot to me. It's just
my parents, my older brother, and me. We're really close, trust each other, and have lots of
shared experiences that make us even closer. My brother András is 6 years older than me.
Despite our age difference, we have an incredibly close relationship. My older brother often
acts as a protector, guiding me whenever I require assistance. Like typical siblings, we do
have occasional disagreements, but we consistently unite when it truly counts. My parents
were quite young, when my older brother was born, and they are now in their forties. As for
my mother, she is always ready for a warm hug and a listening ear. She plays a prominent role
in our family. Her appearance she’s of medium height and slender. She is a brunette and she
has got brown eye. Her ears and lips are small and she has got turned-up nose. She rarely wear
makeup, she like natural look. As for my father. he is a responsible and reliable person in the
family. He is known for his unwavering support, hard work and strong sense of humor. About
his look he’s of medium height. His hair crew-cut and it’s going grey. He has got a big
straight nose. As for their occupations, my mother graduated as a caterer and business
manager, and my father as a turner. None of them work in their profession. Honestly, they
work a lot, but they always manage to find enough time to be with us. To begin with we try to
have eat together every day when everybody is at home. At the weekends we like watching a
good movies or TV series. I enjoy watching Star Wars or Marvel movies with my dad, and I
like watching medical TV series with my mom. The moments spent together, the laughs and

the experiences lived together will stay with us forever and make us stronger. I am grateful
that they are a part of my life.

3. YOUR HOME
We live in Kunhegyes, in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county. Our city is surrounded by fields and
a nice wooded era. As we live in a very small city far away my school, about 51 kilometers,
during the school year I stay at the school hostel and I go home only at the weekends and for
school holidays. As for my family home, it is quite small but well designed. When you enter
the front door, you enter the kitchen and dining room. If we continue straight, we will reach
the bathroom. Turning left in the kitchen leads to the study. There will be a corridor with the
two bedrooms on the right and left. My favorite room in our house is the kitchen. The kitchen
is the heart of the house, where the whole family can be together. The walls are painted a soft
orange. In the center of the kitchen, there’s circle wooden table where we enjoy usually the
lunch or dinner together. My mom and I love cooking together; she teaches me her secret
recipes. We share stories and laugh together while creating delicious meals. The kitchen and a
dining room are in the same room. The kitchen has built-in cupboard where I can store all my
dishes. The room has large windows above the counter lets in plenty of sunshine during the
day. I like the way it is our house. I wouldn’t change anything about it. I didn’t like country
life because of my opinion that lifestyle was not designed for me. On the other hand, I want to
live in a big city in the future. Because the life never boring there. There are a lot of things to
do, like cinemas, theaters, and cafés to meet my friends.

4. FRIENDS
My friends hold a special place in my heart. I am convinced that we can’t live without our friends. For
me a friend is someone who is there for you when you need them, helps out when you are in trouble.
And my friends are just like that. I have quite a few acquaintances, but only a few very close friends.
My parents always say that friends should be few and well chosen. I agree with them. I also have
many friends in school. We know each other very well, we hang out meet after school, sometimes to
study, sometimes just to spend some time together. But I have a best friend. Her name is Zsófi, she is
my second cousin. We grow up together, we went to the same kindergarten and elementary school,
then we parted ways a little in high school. She stayed at the high school in our hometown, and I go to
Szolnok 51 kilometers far away from her. Unfortunately, we can't always meet, but when we can, we
try to spend quality time together, like, we make a girl day when we go to shopping together or we see
a good horror movie. She loves play volleyball, and when I have spare time I go to her games. In my
opinion, the cornerstone of true friendship is honesty. True friends tell you what you need to hear, not
ANGOL KÖZÉPFOKÚ TÉTELEK
just what you want to hear. They provide constructive criticism and hold you accountable, making you
a better person in the process. Zsófi and I are like that.

5. SCHOOL
I attend Szolnoki SZC Kereskedelmi Vendéglátóipari Technikum és Szakképző Iskola in Szolnok and
I am grade 11. Our school founded many years ago, it has been important in teaching and training
students in commerce and hospitality in Hungary. It is a three-storey building with a lot of stairs. The
classrooms aren’t large but most of them are well furnished and well-lit. We have thirty-four 45-
minute lessons a week. We have two alternating timetables: Week A and Week B. I am happy with
our timetables the way it is, although Wednesday is a very difficult day we have two Math, History,
Geography, English, so many professional subject and I also attend a mixer course at school. I am
extremely tired by the end of the day. My favorite subject is English. I think the English language
opens doors for me. Because english is spoken all over the world. We can actually hear and read it
almost everywhere. It is international language. I grab every opportunity to improve my English. For
example, last year I had the opportunity to go to Greece, so I took the opportunity and went. It was my
best decision. I learned a lot about myself and how to use the English language abroad. Back to my
school we have a code of conduct at school. There are a lot of rules we have to follow. We have to
arrive on time and prepared for the lesson by time the bell rings. We must arrive on time and prepared.
A lot of attention is also paid to our dress code, as I attend a catering school. We are not allowed to
wear torn pants, short skirts, or crop top. These tend to be a lot of problems. But we love our
headmistress, she is always by our side and helps us when needed. Our class is specialized in
confectioner and trade. This means that we have more professional subjects a week, confectioners
have confectionary-related subjects; traders have trade-related subjects. I belong to the traders. I love
my professional subjects; they are all things that I will use in life. My favorite here are the marketing
classes. It is taught by a very good teacher and the lessons are very exciting for me.

6. DAILY ROUTINE, FREE TIME, HOBBIES

As I’m a teenager, my daily routine is pretty ordinary. On weekdays I usually get up at 6 o’clock or
half seven. I am really afraid of oversleeping, so I get up immediately after my alarm clock goes off. I
resemble my parents in this. First of all, when I wake up I go to the toilet and then I brush my teeth.
After that I iron my hair and get dressed. I am always in a rush, so I didn't always have time for a
breakfast. Finally, I pack my school things into my backpack and leave for school. I’m very lucky,
because my dormity is next to my school. Usually I have seven 45-minute lessons a day, but I have so
many Study Group where I have to go so every day I finish around 3pm. After school I go to my
dormity am relax or I eat something. I’m very hungry by that time of the day. After that I have a
snooze and I check my messages on my phone. I study from four in the afternoon until about 6 in the
evening. Around half seven I have dinner with my friends. After that I meet my friends next to
dormity and we go somewhere or just hang out together. I go to the dormity at 9pm. At 10pm I have a
shower and I go to bed at 11 o’clock. At the weekends when I have free time I meet my friends, for
example my best friend love play volleyball, so I go to watch her games. I love movies, and tv series
so much so every weekend I watch one, usually with my parents.

7. CINEMA, TELEVISION
I am a big fan of the cinema. I go to cinema almost every month. There is a big multiplex not far from
my dormity. Like almost all people I like comedy movies, but what is closest to my heart are historical
films and crime movies. I can’t stand western. If there a new film on at the cinema I watch the trailer
for it, I read the reviews on the Internet and if it looks interesting I go to see it. My favorite film is
always different, but now is The Before Sunset. All three movies. They are amazing movies. I have
seen it several times. I watch it over and over again and it never gets boring. I’m always re-watching
every year The story is Jesse, the American guy, and Celine, the French high school girl, meet on the
train traveling from Budapest to Vienna. The two young people strike up a pleasant conversation
during the journey, which leads the boy to ask the girl to accompany him for the night in Vienna.
Celine agrees, and the two young individuals spend those few hours together, which extend into the
early morning. Their connection ultimately blossoms into a sweeping love affair, but they must part
ways at sunrise. At the end of the movie Céline is become my favorite character. She is very pretty
and clever girl besides that she is a feminist which made me like it even more. I saw this film for the
first time when I was quite young, and every year since then I see it differently, I learn new things
from it. I love watching movies the old-fashioned way, I have a lot of CDs and DVDs that I sometimes
take out.

8. MUSIC
Music means lot to me. I can’t imagine life without it. I listen to it all the time. It helps me relax and
escape from everything around me. If I am sad or upset, I listen to music. I don’t stick to one genre, I
listen all type of music expect metal music and Hungary pop. I listen to hip-hop, rock, pop and reggae
rap. The artists I listen to are Bongor, Ajsaluna, Deftones, Justin Timberlake, Eminem, Pogányinduló,
The Driver Era, Nirvana and Wallows. I never learned to play any instrument, but I really admire
those who can. Like my Music teacher from primary school. I always loved listening to him play
music for us. I often go to gigs with my friends. I love live music and the atmosphere of concerts.

9. HOLIDAYS
The holidays, to me, mean a time of warmth and nearness with loved ones. If celebrating traditions
or making new memories, the holidays bring a sense of magic feelings for me. My favourite family
celebration is probably Christmas. I perform Christmas with my parents and my older brother. On
the twenty-fourth of December we decorate the Christmas tree with lights and some ornaments and
we put our present under the tree. We have Christmas dinner; my mum and me usually made stuffed
cabbage and fish soup. My second beloved celebration is my birthday and other people's birthdays. I
enjoy getting gifts, but I love giving them even more. When I have my birthday i usually celebrate
with my family first and next with my friends. At home, we play together with my close family on
this day, we enjoy being together and after, we eat my birthday cake that usually is chestnut puree
cake (it is my favourite ofc). And the Easter, honestly my family (including me) never liked this
holiday. In traditional sense we don't celebrate this holiday, we don't paint eggs, we don't welcome
sprinklers. Instead my mum makes ham sandwich with boiled eggs, it is so delicious.
