Final Capstone Project Reflection Questions

(Please give specific detailed answers.)

1. In the process of completing your Capstone Project, what did you learn about your subject? What did
you learn about your skill set? What did you learn about yourself?

Throughout my journey of my Fashion Sustainability project, I learned a lot about different topics and factors
that tie in to fashion: I learned about fast fashion and how it can impact the environment and fashion industry,
sustainable fashion popular brands that support the environment with also making good clothing. I learned to
develop a better sense of fashion and to make choices of the clothes that I buy. I also learned that there is a
culture for fashion and that I can find others like me by promoting my capstone project.

2. How is your project relevant to you? How is it relevant to the school? How is it relevant to the
community?

Fashion sustainability has brought out my behavior when it comes to shopping, I have learned to do research
within a brand that I like, to see if the brand is caring and cautious toward the environment. This project ties
into my passion for fashion, it also connects with the students that want to style themselves better, get
inspiration, while being more mindful for the environment. This can also advise the community by me
teaching them the ways of saving money, which everyone has their mind on, saving waste clothing, and
learning about the fashion industry.

3. What impact did your Capstone have on you?

This project impacted me mentally and physically, knowing how to manage a business, how to promote it, and
how networking helps a lot with finding people for your business. It also helped me with my understanding of
how being an entrepreneur leads you to work on things you are passionate about. This capstone project had
an impact on my life by showing me the true background of the fashion industry, I gained more knowledge on
how to live with sustainable fashion, and the impacts of fast fashion on the environment and fashion industry.
This has led me to keep on working on projects, still helping others, and keeping on updating my TikTok
throughout the year, or whenever I feel finished.

4. What aspects of your project are you most proud of?

I am most proud of the projects I worked on, like my flare Levi's, which were combined and flared with a pair
of ripped skinny jeans from American eagle, that I do not use anymore. Currently I am working on a similar
project of it, but a different color. I am using my old black American eagle jeans that are casual fit but flaring
the bottoms to fit how I like my jeans. Another part of the project I am most proud of is the overall journey: I
am proud of the work and effort I have put into this passion of mine because it truly ties into my life, every
day, waking up and putting on an outfit for myself, being creative and different.

5. What was a difficulty you encountered while researching your Capstone project? How were you able to
overcome those obstacles?

A challenge I faced researching my capstone project was using the REMSS research database, I had to look for
the library, who ended up not knowing the information because she was a new employee. I later found out
that my teacher had the info, then I used JSTOR to find articles about sustainable fashion, investigating the
problems in the fashion industry. I also lost time during April, I went to Hawaii and missed a week working on
2 projects for my friends. I had to work twice the effort because I had more projects in mind to start. Even
though it is ending, I will keep working for myself and others in need. I also am starting to restore shoes which
will be later posted on my TikTok account.

6. What is the one thing you would have changed about your project if you could?

If there was to be one thing changed about my project, I would change my TikTok into a variety of videos,
because I have only posted projects of working on pants and I think that the variety of different clothing and
shoes I work on would get more attention & support from others. I would also change my presentation form; I
feel that I did not have enough time to think about how I want to present which I should have focused a bit
more from the start.

7. What advice would you offer to future Capstone students to help them with their Capstone journey?

I would advise future seniors to focus on what you are passionate about, and what you want to do with your
capstone. This is because I have seen people do their projects simply on what they already know about and it
makes them think it’s easier for them, which it is, but it may not be something they’ll care about in the future.
I think that I am going to keep a passion for fashion because my whole life I have always cared about what I
wear: I am always looking forward to getting ready to go out because I like styling myself, it adds to my
personality and shows a part of me to the people that see me. I would also advise that the seniors should look
forward to the journey of their capstone, before locking in the project they want to do, vision the steps that
will be taken in the process of their final capstone. Once the final capstone is completed, they should be proud
and thankful for showing others their different passions and interests.
