Understand the nutritional value of different food items.
Practice the mathematical concepts given in the syllabus.
Gain insight into the healthy food habits and nutritious diets.
Learning outcome:
Students will learn the importance of eating healthy food items
They will be aware of the nutritional values and benefits of the various
foods.
They will practice the concept of estimated values
Will be able to handle money transactions confidently and even plan a
budget for a meal.
1- Choose any 5 healthy food items and paste their empty packets
2- (like milk packet, pulses pack, dry fruits packet etc.) on A-4 size colored
sheets. Then complete the following details for each of them:
a) S. No.
b) Names of packed food items
c) Ingredients (if applicable)
d) M.R.P (in Rs)
e) Estimated Value (by general rule)
f) Difference between the M.R.P and the Estimated Value
g) Identify the shapes of the packets collected. Measure their
dimensions and note down in a table.
h) Nutrients present in food items e.g. carbohydrates, fats, vitamins &
minerals
i) Health Benefits
j) Harmful effects, if any
k) Identify the nature of material used for making the packets. Enlist
the methods to dispose these packets individually and introduce
the concept of waste management. Which bin will you use to
dispose it?
l) Discuss the activity with your grandparents/parents and understand
from them what was their food habit. Can you observe any major
difference in the likes and dislikes of food? Learn from them, in a healthy
interaction, about how they enjoyed the ‘family culture’ when all the
family members came together to dine! Share pics and videos of these
loveable moments!
m) Design one-week diet plan that meets all nutritional requirements after
discussing with the elders, on A3 sheet. Explain this in a short video and
share the video on the given link.
Instructions:
Compile your work in a folder and decorate the outer cover using recycled
materials.
Ensure your name, class, and section are clearly written on the first page.
Capture the activity in small videos and photographs. Share them on the given
link. It's going to be so much fun, isn’t it?
