DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 8

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard The learner will demonstrate a deep understanding of
congruent triangles and their corresponding parts, enabling
them to apply these concepts effectively in various
mathematical contexts.
B. Performance Standard
The learner can communicate mathematical thinking with
coherence and clarity, in formulating, investigating,
analyzing, and solving real-life problems involving proving
triangle congruence.

C. Learning Competency
Knowledge Identify conditions for triangle congruence;
Skills Use triangle congruence postulates and theorems to prove
that two triangles are congruent;
Attitude Relate triangle congruence to real-life situations.
II. CONTENT
A. Subject Matter Proving Two Triangles are Congruent (AAS
Congruence Postulate)
B. Approach/Strategies 4A’s
C. Lesson Integration Develop cooperation, collaboration, and act and respect for
individual decisions.
III. LEARNING RESOURCES

PREPARATORY ACTIVITIES

Prayer

Please stand, and I request someone to lead the Classmates, please stand up. Okay, let us pray…
prayer.

Thank you.

Keeping the Room in Order

Good morning, everyone! Good morning, Ma’am!

Class, before you take your seats, please pick up

pieces of paper and plastics under your chairs, (Learners are picking up the pieces of paper, and
throw them in our trash bins, and arrange your plastic and then arranging their chairs.)
chairs properly in 1,2,3,4,5. 10

Checking of Attendance

May I ask your representative who the absentees Ma’am, I am glad to report that no one is absent
are today? today.

Very good!

I hope you can maintain perfect attendance until

the end of the school year.

Collecting the Assignment

I gave you an assignment last meeting, right? (U) Yes, Ma’am!

Please pass it forward and I will check it later. (Learners passed their assignments)

Review
(Pass the ball)

Okay class, what was our last topic last meeting? (Students raising their hands.)
(M)

(Pass the ball while singing) Ma’am, our last meeting topic was proving
two triangles are congruent in ASA congruent
Yes, Ms. Krisha postulate.

Amazing!

Okay, we’ve discussed, proving two triangles are

congruent in ASA congruent postulate.
(Students raising their hands.)
So
what is the first step? (U)

(Pass the ball while singing)

The first step is to draw a two-column proof.
Yes, Ms. Pabon?
(Students raising their hands.)
After that what is the next step? (U)

(Pass the ball while singing)

Determine the what are the given
Yes, Mr. Tejamo? Ma’am.

Excellent, Mr. Tejamo!

Okay, if we already determine the determine the

given it is easy to us to see what are the next
statements and reasons, and I can see that you (Students are listening to their teacher)
remembered our last topic and for that let’s do the
Peace clap.

Has anybody already heard the Peace clap? No, Ma’am!

(U)

I guess no one knows or is familiar with it, so

kindly follow me.

(The Teacher is demonstrating how to do the

Peace clap.) (Students are demonstrating the Peace Clap.)

Wow, thank you for participating everyone!

A. ACTIVITY

So now, we will have a group activity called “4pics

1 word”. This is to provide you a glimpse on what we
are to discuss today.

I believe that everyone is familiar with 4 pics 1 word (The Learners are actively listening)
game. Isn’t it?

The objective of the game is you will be given 4

pictures to observed and analyze together with a
jumbled letter. The pictures and the jumbled letter will
help you to come up with word depicted on the picture.

For example:

So, what is the answer?

Vertex, Ma’am.
Very Good!
(Students are thinking)

What is the mathematical word is being depicted in the

screen? Side Ma’am.

Very Good!

Next,

(Students are thinking)

What is the mathematical word is being depicted in the

screen? Angle Ma’am.

That’s Right! How about this one,

(Students are thinking)

What is the mathematical word is being depicted in the

screen? Triangle Ma’am.

That’s correct, it is a triangle.

How about this one,

(Students are thinking)

What is the mathematical word is being depicted in the

screen?
Congruent Ma’am.
Your activity starts now. ANSWER:

EVALUATION: ANSWER:
1. What theorems/property state that every angle, 1. Reflexive property
every line segment, and every figure/shape is
congruent to itself?
2. Angle angle side congruence theorem
2. AAS stands for? 3. Definition of bisector
3. The line that divides something into two equal
parts. 4. Definition of midpoint
4. It is the middle point of a line segment. 5. AAS congruence theorem
5. It is two triangles are congruent if two angles and
the non-included side of one triangle are congruent
respectively, to the corresponding two angles and
the non-included side of another triangle.

ASSIGNMENT

For your assignment to be passed next meeting,

answer this question. (Students are listening.)

Why do congruent triangles appear in many

structures such as buildings and towers?

Am I understood? Yes, Ma’am.
