Background
Zenmap is the official GUI version of Nmap which can be used on Windows PC. It is a security scanner
software tool which is used by Cybersecurity professionals & Hackers. It is a multi-platform (Linux, Windows,
Mac OS X, BSD, etc.) free and open source application which aims to make Nmap easy for beginners to use
while providing advanced features for experienced Nmap users. Frequently used scans can be saved as
profiles to make them easy to run repeatedly.

Task

Task1 Download & install Zenmap from official website on your Windows PC
Task2 Find your local IP address & your LAN subnet
Task3 Find the list of live hosts/PC’s in your IP subnet
Task4 How many hosts are live in your subnet?
Task5 What are the IP addresses of the live hosts?
Task6 What are the MAC addresses of the live hosts?
Task7 Display & save the output topology in PDF Format on your desktop

Important Information:
Instructor has used 10.0.0.0/24 subnet in this lab guide. Your subnet & results might be a bit different based on your
network configuration. Just follow these same steps with your local subnet & complete the lab accordingly. Consult the
lecture video recording in which instructor has explained this practically step by step.
Solution

Task1 Download & install Zenmap from official website on your Windows PC:
https://nmap.org/download.html

Run the setup file after download & follow as in below:


Click on install:
Click on finish & open Zen-map:

Task2 Find your local IP address & your LAN subnet:


Open CMD & run ipconfig command to find your PC’s local IP address &
your local LAN subnet:
Task3 Find the list of live hosts/PC’s in your IP subnet:
Open Zenmap, input the local LAN subnet & select Ping Scan to find the list of
live hosts in your subnet:
Task4 How many hosts are live in your subnet?
Answer: 4 hosts are live (including my PC)

Task5 What are the IP addresses of the live hosts?


Answer: 10.0.0.1
10.0.0.4
10.0.0.19
10.0.0.5

Task6 What are the MAC addresses of the live hosts?


Answer: 00:50:56:E3:B3:2C
00:0C:29:C0:94:8F
00:50:56:E9:64:82
00-0C-29-40-C0-93 (use ipconfig /all to find local MAC)
Task7 Display & save the output topology in PDF Format on your desktop:
Click on Topology, turn on legend, read the legend in detail & click on Save
Graphic:

Select PDF from the list:

The PDF file will be saved on your desktop.
