Margaret Thatcher was born on October 13, 1925 in Grantham, a town in the center of England. Margaret
Thatcher, born as Margaret Hilda Roberts, she was the second daughter of the Methodists Alfred and
Beatrice Roberts. He spent his childhood with his family in the English town of Grantham, where his
parents run two grocery stores.
Margaret Thatcher was a policy he exercised as the first minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990,
being the person in that position for the longest time during the
twentieth century and the first woman to hold this post in her
country. His firmness in managing state affairs, his strict dominion
over the ministers of his cabinet and his strong monetarist policy
worth him the nickname "the Iron Lady". As head of government, her
arrival in power was a complete transformation of the United
Kingdom by supporting the privatization of State enterprises,
education and the media social help.
His liberal policies were known as thatcherism. It influenced political
decisions during the last stage of the Cold War; it decided to defend
the territory of the Falkland Islands with war, after the occupation of the troops argentinas.

His first years:

Little Margaret attended primary school at a local school. In 1943 he applied for a scholarship for studying Chemistry at Somerville
College, Oxford. She was accepted and moved there. In his college years, Margaret Thatcher was interested in politics. In 1946, she
became president of the Association of Conservatives of the Association
Oxford University. The following year he graduated in Chemistry and obtained his degree from Bachelor of Science. He specialized in
the crystallography of X-rays and his tutor was the Award Nobel Dorothy Hodgkin.
Once he got the title, he left for Colchester to work as a researcher.
There he joined it
Association of local Conservatives.
Fascinated with Margaret's determination, I end up becoming a Party
candidate
Conservative in 1950 and 1951 by Dartford (Kent).
He lost both times against his opponent.
During the 1951 campaign, she met the one who became her husband,
Denis Thatcher. With him business shared his whole life and had two twin sons in 1953. Soon after he started law school to become a
lawyer. He specialized in Tax Law.
POLITICAL CAREER (1959 - 1979)
Margaret Thatcher was elected a member of the English Parliament by the Party
Conservative in the 1959 general elections. From then on, his meteoric rise began.
After eleven years as a member of the Commons, Thatcher was appointed Minister of Education and Science. This post held it until
1975. During her stage as Minister of Education, one of her top priorities was to reduce spending. This led her to criticism from the
population. One of the most sound cases was the removal of free milk from schools to children.
Because of this scandal, he won the nickname "robaleches" or "milk thief".
In 1974, the Heath government, weakened and beaten by
internal and external crises, lost in the general elections.
Because of this, Edward Heath was not re-elected as a
Conservative Party leader.
In 1975, despite not being the first option, Margaret Thatcher
became the leader of the Conservative Party. She was the first
woman to lead a majority political party in the UK. From that
moment on, strong opposition against Labour began.

FIRST MINISTER OF THE UNITED KINGDOM (1979 - 1990)

In the general elections of May 1979, Margaret Thatcher became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. With that, she was the
first woman to get to Downing Street. He won the nickname "Iron Lady" for his determination and character.
During his years of term of office, one of the main issues was the non-intervention of the State in an economy, a matter that
divided public opinion.
The reconquest of the Islands and the Labour Party crisis contributed to the re-election of Thatcher as Prime Minister in 1983. This
legislature highlights the crisis of 1984, with the strike of the miners.
That same year, Thatcher was the victim of an attack by the IRA terrorist band. A bomb broke out at a convention in his party,
leaving five dead and several injured.
In the 1987 general elections, a popular Margaret Thatcher rose again with victory. During this legislature, the "Iron Lady"
continued her economic measures, as loved and hated.
Weaknesses
Margaret despite facing machismo strongly and all those who were against him. The iron lady had a weakness and was

that she used whiskey to endure political storms while

she was at the head of the British Government. The

former prime minister has never hidden her hobby, but

her dependence on alcohol went further. The iron lady

spent nights at night drinking whiskey after whiskey.

It was a regular habit in the crisis days of its long

term, from 1979 to 1990. Thatcher was like a hard

drinker, fan of drunken nights. "It used vitamins and whiskey as a technique fortifier for conserving energy"

Last years and false:

After his resignation, Margaret Thatcher withdrew from the House of Commons in 1992. That same year, he passed to the

House of Lords like Baroness Thatcher. During those years, the British wrote two books:

The Downing Street years (1993) and The path to power

(1995).

In 2002, he announced that he was withdrawing from

political life for health problems. In addition, he

published his third book that same year: Statecraft:

Strategies for a changing world. A year later, her

husband died. Years later, in 2008, her daughter Carol stated that the "Iron Lady" was going through serious health

problems and believed her husband was still alive.

My opinion:
Margaret Thatcher was a great woman for her determination, leadership and vision for the future. His economic and political reforms that

transformed the United Kingdom. She was a woman hated and at the same time loved since she was one of the best rulers of the United

Kingdom.
