Chapter 1: (Introduction)
1.1. Introduction
In the fast-paced world of academia, access to relevant and organized study materials is
crucial for students to excel in their examinations. Recognizing the significance of past
examination papers as valuable resources for preparation, the project embarked on the
development of a dedicated website to streamline the availability and accessibility of
previous year question papers. This project aims to provide a user-friendly platform where
students can easily navigate, search, and download question papers from various courses
and disciplines.
The website not only serves as a repository for past question papers but also incorporates
features to enhance the overall user experience. Through the implementation of advanced
search functionalities, categorization, and user-friendly interfaces, the website aspires to
become an indispensable tool for students seeking comprehensive study materials.
This report details the planning, design, and implementation phases of the project,

2.2. Technology:
Visual Studio includes a code editor supporting IntelliSense (the code completion
component) as well as code refactoring. The integrated debugger works both as a source-
level debugger and a machine-level debugger. Other built-in tools include a forms designer
for building GUI applications, web designer, class designer, and database schema designer.
It accepts plug-ins that enhance the functionality at almost every level-including adding
support for source-control systems. (like Subversion) and adding new toolsets like editors
and visual designers for domain-specific languages or toolsets for other aspects of the
software development lifecycle (like the Team Foundation Server client: Team Explorer).
xiii
2.3. Hardware and Software Requirement:
SOFTWARE:
Every application needs the software in which it has to be executed and a hardware the
application is going to perform its function. Some application cannot run on every
platforms and some applications needs some specific requirement in the software or in
hardware to get operated. Lets take an example of the applications which cannot be run on
every platforms like windows, android, Linux, etc. Applications made in visual basic is
only supported for the windows, one cannot access this applications from the mobile
phones, etc. So, here are some hardware and software specifications which are mandatory
for the application to get operated.
HARDWARE:
User Interface
HTML has been used for developing the User Layout for the system
PHP Script has been used for creating all the validations and client side scripting
functionality
CSS has been used for designing the web pages of the system
Software Interface:
Client on Internet: Web Browser, Operating System (any)
xiv
Web Server: Operating System (any), Apache 2
Database: MySQL
Scripting Language: HTML, PHP Script, JQuery.
Communication Protocol:
Following protocols are required to be permitted on the server side
HTTP incoming request
Functional Requirements
The system runs of apache server so it is needed that server must haveapache server
version
2.0 available
We have used HTML for server side scripting so the current version of HTML must
be available on the server
MySQL database has been used for storing the data of the website
HTML has been used for creating the layout of the web application
CSS has been used for creating the designing of the webpages
PHPScript scripting language has been implemented on the system for performing
all of the Client Side Server Validation.
HTML:
• HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is used to design web pages
using a markup language. HTML is the combination of Hypertext and Markup
language. Hypertext defines the link between the web pages. A markup language is
used to define the text document within tag which defines the structure of web
pages. This language is used to annotate (make notes for the computer) text so that
a machine can understand it and manipulate text accordingly. Most markup
languages (e.g. HTML) are human-readable. The language uses tags to define what
manipulation has to be done on the text.
xv
• HTML is a markup language used by the browser to manipulate text, images, and
other content, in order to display it in the required format. HTML was created by
Tim Berners-Lee in 1991. The first-ever version of HTML was HTML 1.0, but the
first standard version was HTML 2.0, published in 1999.
Feature of HTML-
• It is easy to learn and easy to use.
• It is platform-independent.
• Images, videos, and audio can be added to a web page.
CSS:
Cascading Style Sheets, fondly referred to as CSS, is a simply designed language intended
to simplify the process of making web pages presentable. CSS allows you to apply styles
to web pages. More importantly, CSS enables you to do this independent of the HTML
that makes up each web page.CSS is easy to learn and understand, but it provides
powerful control over the presentation of an HTML document.
Why CSS?
• CSS saves time: You can write CSS once and reuse the same sheet in multiple
HTML pages.
• Easy Maintenance: To make a global change simply change the style, and all
elements in all the web application will be updated automatically.
• Search Engines: CSS is considered a clean coding technique, which means search
engines won’t have to struggle to “read” its content.
• Superior styles to HTML: CSS has a much wider array of attributes than HTML, so
you can give a far better look to your HTML page in comparison to HTML
attributes.
Offline Browsing: CSS can store web applications locally with the help of an offline
cache.
Using this we can view offline websites

5.1. Conclusion:
Utilizing previous year question paper is a valuable educational resource for students,
offering numerous advantages in academic preparation. This platforms provide a
comprehensive collection of past examination papers, offering a practical means for
learners to enhance their understanding of exam patterns, question formats, and topic
emphasis. By engaging with these resources, students can familiarize themselves with the
structure and types of questions likely to appear in upcoming exams.
One of the primary benefits is the opportunity for effective self-assessment. By attempting
questions from previous years, students can evaluate their knowledge, identify areas of
strength, and pinpoint weaknesses. This targeted approach enables them to focus on
specific topics that require additional attention, ultimately improving their overall
academic performance. Additionally, exposure to a variety of questions aids in honing
problem-solving skills and time management, crucial elements during exams.
